searching for Toddler playdate and pediatrician in Santiago

Postby Jlafor » Tue Jul 27, 2010 3:51 pm

Dear all,

Our family has just arrived in Santiago a few weeks ago and I am searching for playdates with English-speaking children for my 14 month old child. He's attending a Spanish-speaking daycare but we interact with him in English. We live in Las Condes in Santiago. Let me know if you're interested.

Also, if any of you have recommendations for a pediatrician in particular one that would be familiar with the North American practices, I would like to know. I'm receiving completely different advice regarding feeding here compared to the US and it's getting a little bit confusing.

I'm happy to have found this forum and look forward to interacting with many of you.

Best,

Jeanne

Hi :)

Most of the pediatricians we've dealt with at both Clinica Las Condes and Alemana are very up to date with American practices. We have dr Isabel Gonzalez at Clinica Alemana, she's a mother of 3 herself and fantastic (she speaks good English). Otherwise dr Ricardo Ronco is great too.

I know a fantastic GP (probably one of the only GP's in Chile!) in La Dehesa, she speaks fluent English (married to an Aussie) and I couldn't recommend her highly enough. She has a practice in La Dehesa, but also does home visits around Las Condes, Vitacura, La Dehesa and Lo Barnechea. I can pm you her details if you like. It is great to have one person to manage the whole family's health and since she's also a mother of 3 little ones, she's very up to date with pediatric practices and can make referrals too.

Have a look at the English Language Mothers Group at Santiago Community Church (Av Holanda, Providencia) (it's not run by the church - we just hire the hall there). It is a great way to meet other English language Mums, and at the moment most of the kids attending are 1-2 years old.
All the best for your move here.
