Change Student Visa to Tourist Visa

Postby testprz » Wed Jul 07, 2010 2:45 am

Im here on a student visa and it will be removed for not staying with the university that is sponsoring my visa. I still want to stay in chile and would like to switch to a tourist visa. Is this possible? Would I have to return to the US? or can i go to another country around here (argentina for example) and come back on a toursit visa?

Yes, you can go to Argentina and come back on a tourist visa.

I don't understand the "removed for not staying with the University that sponsored you part". What does that have to do with anything. You could also go to immigration and file for a change of status for your student visa or simply to a tourist visa.

Thanks for the help. Well i am at a University and plan on leaving it. They are the sponsors of my student visa and my student visa will be revoked when I leave. I was wondering if this would affect my ability to stay in the country on a tourist visa.
