seatbelts and dogs

Postby Ellen-y-Rene » Tue Jul 06, 2010 9:22 pm

Seeing a topic about babyseats and the chilean law...... Here's a tip for us travelling with pets.

If you're travelling by car and taking your dog with you on the backseat it's obligatory to strap your pet with a special pet seatbelt. I saw one and a link to the law at our local vet recently.
However if you put the dog in the back of your SUV or stationwagon and use a net in between, that's okay by the caribineros too (we had a standard police check of papers and so on while on the highway to Curicó).

"Anima locata est, causa finita est."

Shouldn't it be "locuta est", not "locata"?
As I recall, it went like this: "Roma locuta est, causa finita est" (Rome has spoken, the matter is settled).

Geez...they are concerned about seatbelts for the dogs when the kids are all unbuckled and roaming around inside the car loose...not to mention the infant on the lap of someone sitting up front? What a hypocrisy!
Don't get me wrong...love animals and we have a dog ourselves. Just think we/they should attend to the humans first and then the dogs (referencing seatbelt/carseat usage of course).

The above is against the chilean law as well, probably some people do not believe their children are worth protecting i guess.........

I know that this post is rather old, but I just had to say that I also find it important to have everyone in a car under full control in case of an accident. I never used to have a seatbelt for my dog, but had it in the back with a net as a barrier, so it still traveled safely.

One of my cats love lying besides me in the backseat during car rides, so I'm getting a seatbelt for that one, while the other one is safer in a small cage during the trips to the vet, etcetera. : )

Not having your children in their seats with seatbelts on is stupid. Why wouldn't you want them to be safe?

Wise words from a wise girl called Taylor Swift. Of course I'm a fan of hers.
