Teaching English in Chile

Postby max » Sun Jul 04, 2010 11:16 pm

Does anybody know if a TEFL or TESOL certification is required to teach English in Chilean schools (private, public, university, adult learner)? If so, I am looking for information on TEFL and/or TESOL certification. Thanks in advance :)

There's loads of information on here if you use the 'Advanced Search' feature.

In a nutshell, it depends on your experience, other qualifications, etc. I don't have a TEFL qualification, but I'm an experienced English teacher with a postgrad teaching qualification and an MA. And it depends what you mean by 'schools' as well. You've got quite a variety of institutions under that umbrella. Some places won't be bothered, others will. But from the point of view of being professional and helping your students make the best progress possible, if you've never taught before, a TEFL qualification would probably be a very good idea. Just make sure it's reputable and rigourous.

Max - have tried to send PM but seems to be stuck in the outbox rather than sent, not sure why. Let me know if you haven't received it by tonight and I'll try again.
