Oficina O.I.R.S. {web: oirs .extranjeria .gov .cl } is currently working on improving their online {web/email} inquiry system. What they started to do actually, you know, they are sending you sometimes kind of a "customer satisfaction survey" by email, asking you to assign a level, from "1" to "5" (the best), to their response quality (La claridad y nitidez de la información entregada en la respuesta), convenience of the system (La facilidad en el acceso y uso del sistema virtual), and the speed of the reply (El tiempo que demoró el sistema en satisfacer su demanda de información).

Recently, they demonstrated really fantastic speed, providing rather accurate reply to three questions posted to them in one message, so there was no need to repeat any of them. All -- within 1 hour and 20 minutes (in the past it was something like 24 to 72 hours).

These guys obviously have full access to their own database, so any question related to the missing paperwork (if any), or additional paperwork needed, or your actual application status, or your estimated time of the processing remaining, or whether or not any document is received by them, or whether or not it has been "entered in their system" -- all this is generally solved by these O.I.R.S. guys.

Thus, the estimated time of the processing of definite permanence applications is confirmed by them to be around 6 months (they mean, after your docs have been actually "entered" into the database).

A quick note to His Majesty: though this post may contain some valid info for the "DIY" folks (who are not many), it can be safely removed at any time (either entirely, or in part) from the forum. In any case -- I am sorry if any "secret" was revealed here! :)
