Nurse in Chile??

Postby kassi22 » Tue Jun 08, 2010 4:11 am

Hello,
I am currently living in Chile, and hoping to stay. I am from the US and have Chilean nationality as well, and I speak English and Spanish. I am a nurse in the US. I have my Bachelors and my Masters degrees in nursing, and I have a few years of experience working as a nurse. I am in the (LONG) process of validating my degrees and my license here in Chile. The process is taking longer than I had originally anticipated, and is quite expensive. My question is, does anyone know of work I could do as a nurse here in the mean time? Are there any US companies in Chile that may be looking for bilingual nurses? Just thought I would ask. . .any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
In the meantime I am trying to survive by teaching English. . .

Looking forward to your responses,,
Kassi

Great! Thank you for the reply. I will definately check that unit out for when my title is validated. I would love to work at the Clinica Alemana. Unfortunately, I already had an interview with them, and was told I can't work there until I have my title in Chile.

Hello Kassi,

My name is Jesse. I live in the U.S.A. I work as a Firefighter/Paramedic. I just visited Chile and loved it! I would love to move to Chile. My questions is: where did you start the validation process at? I would be intrestested in "transfereing" my Paramedic to Chile, but where do you start? Is there a web site I can go to so I can get more info?

I appreciate your repsonse and thank you in advance for the response to my question. Thanks!!!

JESSE

I am also interested in the process and where to start. I am still in the US but trying to get it started from here or at least find out if there's an exam and how to begin preparing. Please let us know anything you can find out and where you stared the process. Thank you!!

Well I received a response in form of an official letter from Secretaría Regional Ministerial de Salud-Region de La Araucania by Alvaro Monje Gregorio, Jefe Profesiones Medicas Region de la Araucania date July 30, 2010.

Its really short and says "Junto con saludar informo a usted que actualmente en Chile no es posible reconocer título de
Paramedico obtenido en el extranjero." Basically, they do not recognize foreign Paramedics cert/license. That suxs.

Boooo. It is really difficult to validate outside studies here in Chile. It really sucks. I agree. I will probably end up having to study again if I want to ever have a profession in Chile. This however will have to be a project for the future. I think I will be going home to the States soon so that I can continue to work as a nurse.
:(
Best of luck!
