EEUU,

According to what I found when trying to figure out what was going on, it's a 10.5 issue and it happens with standard software updates. I remember it happened when we were in Costa Rica on holidays, we only took my husband's MacBook and I updated iPhoto to download our pics when the memory was full. I think it might have happened around then.

It's a big worry (especially for someone like me who don't know anything about what goes on behind the screen), but at least now I can back up, now that d&d is working again.

I'm going to read up on your advice an apply if I have the ability to! Now I just need a good Mac person here for future crises. Or I'll have to bribe Mlightheart to help me again in future!

Reapplying the last comprehensive system software update has been a standard test and fixer of OSX system software related glitches that may have occurred as a result of the last piecemeal system, security of third party software installation.

It is easy to do and you aren't tinkering under the hood as root and the possible dangers of that activity. :)
Just a SPAM KILLER. You are on your own in this forum. My personal mission here is done.

Did you know that OSX is a real Unix? As of OSX 10.5.

Wow. POSIX coolness. I strongly suspected that. Even has the man pages.

Now the question is, why buy the hardware? Intel Processor. No Motorola 68K magic. But leave that for another day...
