Work Advice

Postby BuscaWork » Sat Apr 24, 2010 5:43 pm

Hey folks, gringo here. I'm newly arrived in Chile and looking for work. I spent last week looking around apartments and getting a feel for the city. A question I have about work is this; I have 1 year experience, good Spanish (albeit of Central American origin), and a CELTA certificate, but left university after my junior year. I had a high GPA as well. Nevertheless, how badly does this affect my chances of getting work at a reputable company. Is having a BA an ironclad necessity here, or is there some wiggle room?
Also, should I wait for a job offer before beginning my visa application (I'm currently here as a tourist), or is it possible to begin that process without a job offer/position?
And finally, can anyone recommend good sites for apartment/room searches? The craigslist forum seems quite thin. I'm looking at the 100-150(max) a month range
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Busca,

I can't help you with your work search, but if you can hang on for a couple of weeks, maybe we can get an apt together...

I will be looking for a gringo roommate as soon as I get my own place...
