This might be some bad advice on my part. I guess every solicitud is different depending on your circumstances. The letter that I sent was 5 lines of 11pt New Times Roman. I had no problems. State the facts. Listo.

Yeah, I treated it as a cover letter, with a few lines stating I am applying for the reason of work. In fact, the office where I applied told me that the proof of work is what they are looking for in my case (the letter is just a secondary formality).

Yea, for the most part they get a passing look by immigration. Thus keeping them short is likly a good thing.

it is a very easy part of the visa process. it should generally go like this...

Dear XXXX

I am (who you are and why you came to chile)

I desire to live in chile because (your reasons to live here ie: family, business, etc.) Chile is so awesome!!

Sincerely,
Name

Mine was pretty short too and I didn't have any problems.

En tramite???

Postby Steph » Sun Aug 21, 2011 8:38 pm

Hi, sorry, kind of hi-jacking, but on a related matter, when applying for a visa (in my case sujeto a contrato) and you want to get the "en tramite" paper, I know that I have to pay 50% of the fee to get that, what I am unsure of is the process. Do I go to the bank and pay that amount and submit the receipt with my forms when applying for the visa, or do I submit the forms, (with the boxed ticked for "en tramite"), wait for a card in the mail and then go pay the fee and then present my receipt to extranjeria to get my "en tramite" card? Thanks for any advice, so far I have received conflicting advice.

PS I tried search already.

Someone's letter cover page, I know, had only one big photo on it. A tree covered with snow -- shortly after last winter's snowstorms. The body had 3 parts: the first stating the reason(s) for the request, next -- describing the "economical means", and then -- a quick "autobiographical note". Finally one more photo showing a bit of native forest, again, in snow.
The time that you spend reading this sentence could be employed to better advantage in almost any other way.

I have a couple of examples now, 200 words is ample and adequate for the visa when applying from a subject to contract, ( your contract and al the cert you have to get gives proof of financial means )

Just need to say who you are, what you have been doing here, why you want to continue living here and a couple of examples of that, , each really is 1 or 2 sentences long.
