My wife turned the TV away from the news yesterday. She said that she was sick and tired of hearing about another American failure. She didn't want to be reminded that America was collapsing.

TV continues to paint a picture that all is well, all is well, but the news says something different. Things are falling apart, but people seem happy enough to watch stupid game shows like Minute to Win It were people plays games like trained monkeys in order to win money that really doesn't have any real value. It's the circuses part of Bread and Circuses.

The US is collapsing and all entertainment can offer is showing people trying to flip a coin into a 5 gallon water jug for a million overinflated dollars. Or flip a dozen pencils over and catch them. Escapism. Bread and Circuses.

We are poorer now as a society than we have ever been. Even the people in biblical times were richer monetarily than we are today, but that is for another thread and another time. And when you try to tell people, they can't even fathom the thought. Idiots.

Churches which used to be bastions of moral strength have turned into places of permissiveness where they refuse to take a stand on real political issues of the day, including government spending and inflation because of their fear of losing their tax exempt status.

We have a food system in peril where it's difficult to eat food without consuming frankenfood. Forget about going to McDonalds, I am talking about the grocery store. GMO is mixing with non GMO species and messing them all up. Too much junk is being sprayed on the cropland in order to get soil that has had its life robbed produce food that tastes like crap. We have to take vitamins that we should be getting from our food. Many of our proccessed foods contain high fructose corn syrup, despite the TV ads saying otherwise, is a deadly substance that is several times more destructive than regular sugar. Speaking of sugar? Some 90% of all sugar beets are GMO and that accounts for half of our US sugar consumption.

I need to take a break.

RE Nazification

Anyone who might be flying on American Airlines and probably other US-bound carriers, with stopover in the US, even if merely in-transit and final destination is Canada, the following received today evidently applies:

As you may know, since August 2009, American Airlines has collected and transmitted Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD) to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) (http://www.tsa.gov/) as required by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Secure Flight is designed to enhance the security of domestic and international commercial air travel by streamlining the DHS watch list matching process.

The next phase in this program requires that effective November 1, all passengers have Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD) in their reservation at least 72 hours prior to departure. You will be unable to travel without providing this information.

Of course, TSA are still putting 6-year-old girls on their No Fly list.

It applies to all carriers that even cross US airspace. If you may remember in May, an AeroMexico flight from Paris to Mexico City was diverted to Montreal when the plane was not allowed to enter US airspace because a passenger was on the no fly list.

Yesterday, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke delivered a speech before the the Annual Meeting of the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council in Providence, Rhode Island. In the speech, he warned about the current state of the government finances. His conclusion, the situation is dire and "unsustainable".

It is remarkable that mainstream media has given this speech no coverage.

This is as close as you are ever going to see a central banker admit that his country's financial situation is so dire that it could breakup at any time.

eeuu... perhaps you might better understand the use of language?

Polite fiction refers to a social scenario in which (a) participant (is) aware of a truth, but pretend to believe in some alternative version of events to avoid conflict or embarrassment. Polite fictions are closely related to euphemism, in which a word or phrase that might be impolite, disagreeable, or offensive is replaced by another word or phrase that both speaker and listener understand to have the same meaning.

Hence...
YOU UNPATRIOTIC SACK...

Might really be...

Explains their rationale - now what is the libertarian response? Are those who don't pay into the system entitled to free care or not?
