I have an unlocked iphone and just got a sim card from entel. The person I'm staying with put in her RUT when entel asked for it. I noticed today that I get 3G internet now, but I didn't sign up for anything just bought the card. Are they going to automatically charge the person with the RUT for the 3g? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks.

No, of course not... entering the RUT is just a way to beat the system. If your friend hadn't been there, the salesperson would have entered one.

I assume you got a prepaid card, so especially with the iPhone you need to be really careful about data services, as the phone does a lot of stuff in the background (e.g. push mail activity, maps, and "friend-finding" applications you might have..) without the user being aware.
