Boycotting paypal is HARD

Postby Dagny » Fri Mar 12, 2010 11:38 pm

I just listed an auction on ebay; changed my usual payment from paypal to "check or money order" and got this lovely error message:

You can not submit your listing due to the following problems

Please review your item
It appears that you are offering money order as a payment method which is no longer permitted in the eBay marketplace. As of January 15th, we will be removing any items that offer this payment method within the listing. Sellers must offer to accept one or more of the following payment methods

Paypal

Credit or debit card processed through an Internet merchant account

Propay

Sellers may in addition offer to accept Payment Upon Pickup.
Please revise your listing by removing the banned payment method. Based on the safety concerns and input from the Community, eBay has established an Accepted Payments policy that clarifies eBay's position on payment method

I boycott fleabay and PC pal. Back when I used to use eBay (2006) I would email the seller and ask if I could pay by M.O. Of course if they accept you have to trust them to do that. F ebay, F paypal. F Meg Whitman.

This is pretty interesting, in that my PayPal acct. has been closed for ages. So my question is: is this just spammers trying to get login info or is it actually PayPunk using deception and lying to get me to use my PayPunk acct. I know they're dishonest. If I re-open my PayPunk acct. I'm pretty sure there would be no "$16.25 USD from jhedgepeth@hhfamilylaw.com."(whom I have never heard of or done business with.)

Possible Scenario's:
1. Spammers.
2. PayPunk is lying, (no $16.25 in my acct.) and just want peoples acct's open and doing business with them because they're being dumped by people in droves. They figure my greed will get me to re-open my acct. and when the $16.25USD is not there I'll be too lazy to close the acct. again.
3. Someone accidently sent $16.25USD to my long closed PayPunk acct. Oh well, it's not worth it for me to re-open, I wouldn't anyway.
4. PayPunk is me paying $16.25 to re-open my acct.? Are they getting a little bit desperate now?

Death to PayPunk.
