We have an entire AIRFORCE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Temuco flying club has several more airplanes, but no one to help them do the back office coordination. We are going to be sending computers, printers, and people to the hanger at the Temuco airport to help them coordinate. They already know where the worst areas are and need logistical support contacting the cities, preparing passenger list, dispatching aid.

I dont expect the get the amount that Charles did by paypal so i will keep it coming until i reach a reasonable amount and then cut it off for the time being. I think Charles issue was that someone screwed it up for everyone thus caused the issues.

But point well taken. I am trying to get cash and will send it WU also as I will resend my paypal donation that way as well.

Let me know if you need computers, etc as we have some extras and maybe some laptops we can send down.

I am working on the logistics for Boston now but its tough on the weekend to get responses.

The doctors are being served their medical license at the airport in Puerto Montt at this moment.

The owners of the Hotel Bayern in Temuco has generously provided an apartment for the doctors and their family, and a single room for Vince. There is just no way to say thanks sufficiently for all their assistance and support.

We panicked this morning when we realized we donated all of our extra blankets and bedding to the relief effort in the first days, and had nothing in the house for guest left. My wife even donated her grandmothers quilts. I asked her, what do you think your grandmother would want you to do? Her grandmother was a ground breaking humanitarian in Chile (story for another day).

Still showing payment to spencerglobal - no mention of refund - but the funds were never sucked out of my bank account...

I'm anticipating paypal messing this whole thing up but think its important to hold off hassling them about refunds IN CASE the custservbots on the line misinterpret my request and it reflects negatively on spencerglobal.

I've re-emailed everyone from yesterday with the new donation information and God willing, it will work.

yea, hold on. I am going to double check all the refunds. I am just letting their system update and settle a bit. It is obviously sensitive and fragile .

The plane is headed to Temuco.

I just discovered what pay pals problem is. They have their own donation thing going on, but to organizations that I don't think there is single one operating on the ground. They are viewing us as competition I guess.

Flight is about 35 -45 mins out from Temuco.

What a shame! There should be no such thing as competition if they are really interested in good will...

So glad to hear things are happening, and I got goose bumps when you mentioned the temuco flying club. What an awesome country chile is, and this motley crew from the forum, lead by Charles and Zandra, so impressed and proud to be a part of this right now.

The husband and wife team of docs from Futa are incredible folks. Most folks won't know that they had JUST arrived in the Futa area to settle in and finish their home and start their lives there. Talk about selfless people. But that seems to be what folks in Chile are like, both nationals and ex-pats. There is something you can't quite put your finger on when you come here....this is it. The good old-fashioned neighbors helping neighbors, giving more than you get. This couple, along with all the folks on allchile, most especially Charles and Zandra, and their incredible staff are ALWAYS going above and beyond the call ofduty for no other reason than it is the right thing to do.

When the volcano hit, one of the docs was in Futa and since the banks were closed, there was no money to be had. This doc gave us some money and said, "Worry about it later when things have calmed down." That's how things are here, and Chile is so fortunate to attract people like the docs and do so because of the kind of people who are Chilenos.

UPDATE FROM TEMUCO AIRPORT
The team is currently at the airport loading planes with water and supplies. In just a few moments, the AllChile.net Earthquake Relief Flights will take off from temuco...... Pictures will be posted soon - Zandra called and mentioned that they are experiencing internet problems so they can't send the pictures over.
