I set up my own way to receive money for this cause in the US today. I have already received money and will continue to do so next week as i hit up more contacts.
Once I get a good amount I will transfer it by wire or western union, which is faster to you and will keep you posted. I can at least keep it moving here in the meantime and receive the cash.

Well that sucks, but hopefully it will get sorted out quickly. Such a pain in the ass for you to expend your energies in this direction when you have so many more pressing issues to concentrate on. I really hope Paypal is prompt and reasonable about this.

Prompt and reasonable is not something they are know for.

The worse that is going to happen is everyone is going to get their money kicked back to them by pay pal at this point. If they wish to still contribute, we will provide alternate means.

The thing that sucks is that is one of the fastest ways for people to contribute.

The good news is that we have almost the target amount we set out for, not held by Pay Pal. I am now really glad everyone donated more to give us some protection from snafus like this.

1,250,000 pesos in Chile ( In Banco Estado in Chile ready to go is about $2,500 US )
We have another generous donation of $1,000 dollars paid in the U.S. to our accounts.

So, we got $3,500 US mas o menos in the clear and ready to fuel the Plane. With or without pay pal, that plane is taking off in the morning.


If there is one mission or goal for this project it is to eliminate any barrier that stands in our way to help the people that need helping. No government, no bureaucrat, no credit card processor is going to get in the way!!!!

Like I said, I was just looking to get sufficient funds to get us one day of flying, and then I was going to get out and push the plane the rest of the way. At least I don't have to try that.

Vince called. He is in the air, and on his way to Palena airport to pick up the Doctors. There was a bit of morning ground fog that delayed his takeoff, but it was lifting.

He is heading south from Puerto Varas, destination Palena airport where the doctors are driving from Futa to meet him at about 10 am.

Damn Paypal- hopefully they clear it all very quickly and more days of flying is available.
So glad to hear the plane is up and running- now to get to those people!

I am working on posting another bank account I have with Bank of America in the U.S. in the mean time.

We just talked to the Mayor University, and they mentioned what is really needed is psychologist for PTSD issues. We called University Atonimo, and their Psychology department is on board. The students were suppose to be doing their professional practice this time of year anyway, but it was interrupted and now they have lots of volunteers in addition. So it looks like we are going to have a team of Psychologist to deploy also from the University. My wife is going to go meet with them this morning, on her way to meeting with the medical school.

Almost to Palena. He has got to be flying through the mountains right now. Big hats off to vince, as he is flying past an active volcano in to some of the most dangerous flying terrain in the World from what every pilot I have ever spoken to says about that area. Good thing is the weather is good.

there was a comment on another thread about "world vision" and their effort to send psychologist to help kids deal with the trauma. can you connect to those guys? i offered them my house, but they haven't responded.

After Palena we have a tricky operation in Puerto Montt to coordinate. He is going to land at one airport, drop the doctors, our driver there is going to be waiting for them, and take them in to town to get their license at the health ministry. One of the officials has volunteered to meet them on a Saturday there to do this so they can practice medicine in Chile. Vince is going to at the mean time fly to the main Puerto Montt airport refuel, and then fly back to the smaller airport to pick up the doctors and they are off to Temuco. Hopefully we can pull off the refueling and getting the licenses in under about an hour.
