Pay Pal

Postby admin » Tue Mar 09, 2010 9:39 am

We are contacting our attorney in the U.S. today, as Pay Pal is refusing to refund peoples money. I have issued orders for a full Refund to everyone, but they are refusing to process it.

Charles,

Let me know if you need legal help. I have a friend in DC that does pro bono and focus' on govt agency suits and may be able to help with paypal.

Also, I just heard from one of our vineyard suppliers in Cauquenes and they said their hospital is destroyed and aid is slow.

This was one of the worst affected inland areas.

Can we get the plane to do some recon there? I can coordinate everything with the vineyard since they basically run that town, its massive and the biggest employer there.

Let me know asap.

If anyone else is in the vicinity, try to stop there and see if you can help or drop off supplies.

My growling at pay pal just gets louder. They refuse to give me anything beyond a mailing address for their legal department. Still going to see what our attorneys can dig up in the United States today. We will get everyone's money back to them one way or the other.

On to more pleasant news.

The weather allowed us to make it to Isla mocha yesterday direct from Las Angeles where we were grounded overnight by bad weather. We had a full tank of fuel, so we decided to make the most of the weather and go direct to the island rather than waist time going back to Temuco.

We delivered plane load of aid from Las Angels that was donated by Techos para Chile (photos on the way). We then took the doctor in to the town, and we went to one of the camps to talk to the people there about what they needed and to one of the small clinics to talk to the doctor there. They don't have a permanent doctor, and although there were doctors on the island none where planning to stay beyond the day. The wave by some miracle came litterally to the back door of the clinic and stopped, and even wiped out houses next door and all around it. Again, photos on the way.

Our two doctors are returning today, and are going to spend at least a week on the island and perhaps more. We can still go pick them up, if we find places where a doctors are needed, just they will based on the island to provide some sustained medical services until this initial crisis passes. The biggest issue are sanitary related issues. We have about 200 people living in tents and make shift shelters on a hill. Most are so traumatized they refuse to go down to the town. They are afraid another wave will come. We are working on getting physiologist out there.

While we went to town, vince helped search for a little girl and her mother that where swept away by the wave (photos also on the way). We were met at the plane door by the uncle who was just desperate. He asked vince if he could just give him 15 mins up in the air looking. Vince did a full search pattern around the island and the ocean looking for about 30 mins. No luck. Some other pilots also took the uncle up, and the military was sending in a dive team (vince helped them get them and their equipment to the island after).

Vince flew to the mainland about 15 mins away to run several aid shipments and to help the NGO's such as reps from Techos para Chile get to the island (including the military dive team above), while we toured the island with the doctors by foot.

The photos are incredible of the destruction. I am trying to process those as soon as possible.

Let me get a few things this morning under control, and I will have lots more info.

Now that we have things in the field mostly setup, zandra and I will be staying back in Temuco as we can be more help here.

Yes, any pressure we can bring to bear on pay pal to fix this mess as fast as possible would be most appreciated.

Also PM me any info you have on the town.

What we are setting up with the flying club is to send aid truck to Los Angels, and then planes can load in LA without needing to return to Temuco. We also have a couple pilots there that want to help. Techos para Chile volunteers will be helping us there. I think it might be outside our flying range, but let me check. There is another flying club handling the 7-8th region to the north, and we can coordinate with them even if it is outside flying range range.

I will be back with more on everything. We got a million things to do this morning, so let me get all the brush around here trimmed back a bit.

We Got U.N. Money!!!!!

Postby admin » Tue Mar 09, 2010 11:06 am

We just got a call from the director of a law school where my wife teaches saying he desperately needed to talk to her. He just got a bunch of emergency money from the U.N. to help the Mapuch. He does not know how to use it. We said no problem. We are calling in an anthropologist we know that works with the Mapuche, and we have a bunch of contacts with them through our tourism work in the 9th region for allsouthernchile.com.

I wonder if Pay Pal will accept the 501c3 paperwork from the U.N..

Seriously though, we are going to round up a papered NGO to stop anyone from bugging us about similar questions in the future.

THIS SHOULD BE ON FILM.

Hello! - groundbreaking documentary on the power of individuals to succeed where the government is lagging while bringing life saving aid to people they've never met...

anyone got a camera and a hankering to tail Charles for the foreseeable future?

PAY PAL REFUNDS ISSUED!!!

Postby admin » Tue Mar 09, 2010 2:29 pm

Everyone check your pay pal accounts, and make sure you got your money back.

I am now showing a $1 balance in my pay pal account, exactly what I started with.

We would really appreciate anyone that still wants to, to please donate using western union. I would totally understand if many do not want to, but we still can use the money because there is so much to do.
