Non-perishable foodstuffs are needed (rice, spaghetti, oil, salt, coffee, sugar, powdered milk, tea, dried peas / beans...), liquids (sealed bottled water, milk), hygienic products (toothbrushes, sanitary towels, diapers), and good quality clothing and shoes. At some locations mattresses, blankets, sleeping bags, and unexpired medicines.

If you plan to donate clothes, please do not include bikinis, party clothes o Hawaiian shirts. The warehouses should not be overloaded by clothes which are not useful for winter wear. Ideally warm clothes should be donated.

- Falabella and Tottus: Falabella and Tottus are making family packs of CLP5000 available. For each pack bought, they will donate another. The donations go to Caritas.

- Churches – National: Only non-perishable foodstuffs are being accepted (rice, pasta, powdered milk, oil), no clothing nor medicines, in all parishes of the country from 12:00 midday. To find the closest to you, check http://www.iglesia.cl/parroquias/index.php.

- Hogar de Cristo – National Coal, tents, blankets, diapers, powdered milk, and non-perishable foodstuffs are being accepted, no more clothing. These can be donated at all the offices of Hogar de Cristo nationwide, and in Santiago donations are received at Colegio San Ignacio El Bosque (Pocuro 2801, Providencia), as well as the Hogar de Cristo located at Jotabeche 869, at Estación Central. - Red Cross Sanitary articles (soap, shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, toilet paper, new blankets, and diapers are being accepted at present. More food, clothes, and medicine are not required. These can be donated at the warehouses on Seminario 973, Ñuñoa and at Independencia 339, from 09:00 to 22:00.

- FECH – Santiago, centre The Student Federation of the University of Chile (FECH) is accepting non-perishable foodstuffs, winter clothes and and shoes, personal sanitary articles, mattresses and bedclothes. These will be passed to the Red Cross or directly to those affected by the earthquake. Periodista José Carrasco Tapia número 9, near Plaza Italia, phone (02) 977 0911 / 9770910. It is important to note, in contrast to other agencies, FECH accepts construction materials, specifically:

- SOS PUC The Student Federation of the PUC accepts non-perishable foodstuffs, hygiene products, diapers, and bottled drinking water at its campus at San Joaquín / Lo Contador from 09:00 to 21:00. They have too much clothing, the most urgent need is for foodstuffs.

UNIACC – Santiago accepts milk and non-perishable foodstuffs (preferably those which do not need cooking such as energy bars) at Av. Salvador 1200, as well as awnings, tents, diapers, and items of personal hygiene. The university will match all donations of foodstuffs and items of personal hygiene, consequently the best option is for donations of this type. The donations will be used to help villages ignored until now. Donations are accepted until Friday 18:00.

- UMCE located on Av. José Pedro Alessandri accepts non-perishable foodstuffs, milk, diapers, water, items of personal hygiene , and articles for school. This is ideal for residents of Ñuñoa and Macul from 10:00 until 19:00.

- UDD – Santiago, Oriente is collecting blankets, mattresses, non-perishable foodstuffs, and baby articles at the Universidad del Desarrollo de San Carlos de Apoquindo (Avenida La Plaza 680, Las Condes) Donations are accepted from March 1 to March 5 from 10:00 until 20:00. - UCSH – Santiago, Centro is accepting donations until Friday at Carmen 340 from 10:00

- UST the Student Federation of the Universidad Santo Tomás is receiving donations of non-perishable foodstuffs, articles of personal hygiene, clothing and blankets at Avenida Ejército 146 (Metro Los Héroes)

- Universidad Mayor – Santiago is collecting monetary donations in all faculties of its campus until March 12. Particularly needed are medical articles and unexpired medicines. For more information see http://bit.ly/blW8Vp

- Galpón Victor Jara Santiago, Centro is receiving blankets, non-perishable foodstuffs, batteries, and clothing at Huérfanos opposite Plaza Brasil, phone (02) 657 9455

- La Florida this comuna is sponsoring the comunas of Hualañe and Sagrada Familia. Donations are accepted at the Gimnasio Municipal (Alonso de Ercilla 6698)until March 15, 10:00 until 21:00. Bottled water, powdered milk, infant and adult diapers, mattresses, and blankets.

- Municipalidad de Vitacura on Av. Bicentenario 3800 is accepting non perishable foodstuffs, diapers, powdered milk, medicines, torches and batteries. From 10:00 until 19:00 all week. Volunteers are also needed. Information from (02) 240 2590 / 240 2203 / 800 215300 / (09) 9874 2732.

- Tejedoras Solidarias (Weaving Solidarity) the magazine Paula is calling for woven woolen squares of 20x20cm, the thicker the knit the more they will protect. These are received at Vicuña Mackenna 1962 from 09:30 until 19:00, until March 19. More information from francisca.quezada@paula.cl

- Poloc – Santiago the organization Poloc is collecting for Tirúa, a Mapuche village which has been forgotten in the aid effort and where conditions are bad. Help is being accepted at Av. - Greenpeace – Santiago we have received official notification that the request for money donations for Juan Fernández circulating in the internet is false. Please contact friends and family to ensure that they do not contribute to this illegitimate effort.

- Colegio Adventista – Norte the Adventist colleges of Arica, Iquique, Antofagasta, Calama and Copiapó are accepting clothing, blankets, shoes, and non perishable foodstuffs during the week. Donations are accepted at the Red Cross (Calle San Marcos, Arica centre)

- Iquique the city council of Iquique is accepting donations at Estadio Viejo opposite Cavancha / Avenida Prat, diapers, milk, non-perishable foodstuffs, bottled water, and blankets. Until Friday march 5. For more information call (05) 751 4736

- Antofagasta diapers, milk, and blankets are accepted at the Red Cross offices (Adamson 3354, two blocks north Av. - Rancagua to help the more than 60,000 affected peoppe, the city council has designated the Gimnasio Municipal del Complejo Patricio Mekis to receive donations of non-perishabel foodstuffs, blankets, clothing, milk, and diapers.

- Valdivia the Agrupación de Ingenieros Forestales por el Bosque Nativo (AIFBN) is accepting water, non-perishable foodstuffs, disposable diapers, sanitary napkins, clothing (especially for infants and children), liquid milk, blankets, and mattresses at their offices located at Janequeo 355, Valdivia all week.

- Puerto Montt all the municipal schools accept donations until March 10. They are collecting water, milk, and diapers. everything collected will be sent to Escuela España (Rengifo 400), the principal collection point.

You can nring your donations to the Puerto varas city council, Parroquia Sagrado Corazón and to Colegio Puerto Varas. The group which organised the 'bucket scheme" was IDEP FOUNDATION of Ubud Bali....you can access their site if you type in IDEP Bali....they are a sister group of ours and have had a great deal of experience with disaster management. We have often worked together....contact person is Petra....I am the ( Director) of Crisis Care Bali ( I am known as Mama Gloria ) and we have a free clinic for those in need of medical/social aid here in a remote area of Bali....we assist with aid for crisis situations e.g. landslides/terrorist attacks/flooding/and earthquakes..and I wish that I could just get on a plane and join you all over there in Chile....sadly I have to be with you all in spirit and my thoughts and prayers go out to all concerned. Keep focused..help is on the way...and to all volunteers...take breaks often to replenish your energy....let me know how I can help....we are with you all.

P.S. to my last post...maybe if kids who are unaffected want to help they can put a small plan into action....many children affected by this type of disaster have lasting fears and memories...it would be good for them to have drawing books and crayons with which to record what they felt and how people came to help....this is a type of therapy for young and old....a gallery of the pics could be set up later when things are on an even keel again.....this is a small way to help the kids recover from what they saw and heard amid the earthquake...and who knows there may be budding artists amongst them....prizes could be given by well wishers later.....G
