World Vision Establishes a Post-Traumatic Center for Children in DichatoWith initial support of 100 million pesos [CLP, equivalent to approximately $200,000 USD], World Vision, the international humanitarian and developmental agency, has established a presence in the south of Chile, focusing their efforts of aid on children in [the community of] Dichato. Specifically they are establishing a post-traumatic center for children, similar to those that were established following the tsunami of Indonesia and more recently in Haiti.
For more than 25 years, World Vision has been in Chile, where currently, through 15 developmental projects, they have sponsored more than 40,000 children, located in the Metropolitan Region, Region VIII, Region IX, and all which have been affected in a greater or lessor degree. In addition to Dichato, all are receiving institutional support.
The delivery of foods and goods vary from place to place, based on the needs expressed by inhabitants, where, in addition to non-perishable foods, there is a need for blankets, cooking fuel, mattresses and electric generators.
World Vision Chile calls on local authorities to establish post-traumatic centers for children and safeguard the most valuable capital of the country.
