for what it's worth...i don;t have a lot of confidence in organizations like the red cross...only a small percentage of their income ever gets to the people who really need help.

at the risk of being misunderstood as a scammer, can i suggest a more direct way to help? send a check to my brother in colorado springs. he will deposit the money in an account that i can access here. i swear on my mother's grave that every penny and then some will go directly to the people who need it.

i live in dichato, a village that was absolutely wiped out. the survivors have lost EVERYTHING. i can coordinate aid with my friends in santiago to get food and supplies to the people who are now living in tents and make-shift structures on the hillsides around the town.

i will deliver the supplies myself. no need to pay the bureaucrats at red cross their 6 figure salaries while they sit on their fat asses in their posh offices and wave a pencil at the real people to do the real work that needs to be done.

We have a plane and pilote, we might need donations to help pay for fuel (as soon as we find fuel). We will hopefully know more here shortly, and I may post a paypal donation button if that is needed.

It looks like we are going to be needing about 40,000 pesos (about $80 US) an hour for fuel. We are still working on just how much, and where we are sending it.

SOS Universidad Católica, is collecting non-perishable food, hygiene items and diapers, clothes, and water at campus San Joaquín and Lo Contador.

Universidad del Desarrollo, is collecting clothes, blankets, shoes and non-perishable food at campus San Carlos de Apoquindo, Avenida La Plaza 680, Las Condes.

Grupo Ayuda para Llico, a group of university students formed on Facebook is gathering items for Llico, Iloca y Duao.
