THIS FORUM HAS BEEN LOCKED. SEARCHES FOR MISSING PEOPLE RELATED TO THE EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI HAVE BEEN HALTED BY US.

THE CURRENT UNOFFICIAL LIST OF MISSING IN CHILE STANDS AT ABOUT 90 PEOPLE. MOST OF THE PEOPLE ON THAT LIST ARE ACCOUNTED FOR IN SOME WAY. IN MOST CASES THE CHILEAN GOVERNMENT SIMPLY HAS NOT ISSUED DEATH CERTIFICATES YET FOR THEM, AND MOST ARE PRESUMED DEAD BASED ON THE CIRCUMSTANCED RELATED TO THEIR DISAPPEARANCE. MANY OF THE REMAINING PEOPLE ARE ONLY VAGUELY CONSIDERED MISSING FOR LACK OF INFORMATION CONCERNING THEIR LAST KNOWN WHEREABOUTS (some may not have even been in Chile).

CONTRARY TO STATEMENTS ISSUED BY THE INTERNATIONAL RED CROSS: THERE IS NOT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE STILL MISSING IN CHILE!!!!

PLEASE POST INFORMATION REGARDING PEOPLE YOU ARE TRYING TO LOCATE OR GET IN TOUCH WITH HERE. ANYONE THAT HAS NEWS ON THOSE PEOPLE PLEASE POST HERE ALSO.

ANYONE ELSE WITH COMMENTS, PLEASE USE THE MAIN THREAD ABOUT THE EARTHQUAKE.

Please also post links to other sites on the internet that also have missing people threads, as people may not be aware of them.


NOTE: IF YOU CONTACT US THROUGH PRIVATE MESSAGE ON THE FORUM, PLEASE INCLUDE IN THE SUBJECT YOUR REAL NAME. We are getting to the point that we are tracking sufficient people all at once that it is getting hard to keep track of who to send back the information to, especially if everyone uses the same title in the subject line of the PM.

When you contact us to help find someone we need any related information you might have:
cell phone numbers
land lines
neighbors contact info, names,
last known location
other friends in chile
and any other information you can tell us no matter how insignificant you think it might be to give us a lead.

Most importantly we need to know who to contact if we do find the person, and who is looking for the person.


DO NOT JUST SEND US A BUNCH OF NAMES YOU HAVE SCRAPED OFF OF LIST SOMEWHERE ELSE ON THE INTERNET!!!!
If we devote valuable time and resources to contacting someone that the family or friends have all ready reached, they will not know to let us know they are found. Someone else has a friend or family we are not finding because, we waisted time chasing someone that was already located.

We will watch this thread closely, and if we have any resources or contacts in the areas that the person was last seen we will do our best to find out anything we can.

People can also call us at the numbers below. The U.S. line is working for now, but depends on the internet. Our land line in Temuco is the most reliable at this point, but we have lost the ability to call out of the country at times.

Please help find Sam! 16-year old American boy living with Dr. Francisco Luna near Concepcion. Sam has been volunteering at a homeless shelter while learning medicine. We just got notice from the family that the above missing kids was found.

I want to offer this. We have an extensive network of not only local contacts, but also drivers that work for us across Chile. If you are having trouble getting in touch with someone specific in a specific area, if you contact us we will try and get message to them or otherwise check on them. I can not promise anything because of the circumstances are very chaotic around Chile, but we will do our best to move what we can. We have been in touch with several of our drivers that are willing and able to go in to affected areas, or are already operating there.

For instance we just put someone together with a driver in Santiago that is going to drive to Concepción to take two nuns out of the affected area.

What we hope to do, because we have both international communication and local communication where possible, is relay messages by cell phone or local land line, and then have one of our local drivers try to reach the final destination.

Please, please, restrict this to critical emergency situations. The drivers we have been in contact with that are still functional and willing to do this as a personal favor, and we are essentially asking them risk their life for a stranger. So treat this offer with the respect it deserves.

It will at the end of this story be the great bright spot of this disaster how Chileans were willing to help each other and strangers as they would help family.

we are here in the U.S and my friend is from Curico. He still can't get a hold of his family, his niece works for carabineros de chile Estrella Corales Figueroa, and sister also Tamara Alejandra Corales Figueroa

Reports we have is that is one of the most affected areas as we understand. We are going to see what we can do. Any more info than that for us to go on? Perhaps if you have a cell number for anyone in the family we can try. Some of our lines will get through and others will not even in Temuco. The networks are badly broken and certain parts do not talk to other parts all the time.

I am unable to contact family living in Lomas Coloradas, San Pedro de la Paz, Concepcion.

Does anybody have a status for this area, as we are getting somewhat worried?



We are in Las Condes which is pretty unaffected, today we even got the gas back.
But scary experience, was wondering about how much punishment the building could take.

we have this info about concepcion right now:
NO HAY VICTIMAS FATALES NI EN CHIGUAYANTE NI EN SAN PEDRO DE LA
PAZ-CONFIRMADO POR LA ALCALDESA

There are no fatalities in CHIGUAYANTE and SAN PEDRO DE LA
PAZ-confirmed by the mayors.

We are working on trying to get local resources and communication in to the Concepción area. More as we get it.

The worst part is that My friend's family lived in a house made of ADOBE which, we saw in the news were completely destroyed, Thank you Mr. Spencer your aid is very much appreciated it, Thanks goodness for this forum
