Hello all,

I'm thrilled to see Charles and everyone pulling together after this major shocker. I hope people are reunited and the aftershocks stop! People really seem to be supporting each other. We talked to an elderly woman in the building that seemed out of sorts. She was happy to have someone to talk with, and so were we.

I was with my fiancee on the 11th floor in Santiago, Providencia area for the big wakeup call Saturday. Damn crazy ride, and really scary. We visited with colleagues yesterday and tried to get back to normal today. Today, we've been continuing to clean up the apartment. But things are still weird.

The building survived pretty well, modern construction, and hats off to the designers of these buildings. Seems like they stayed true to their code.

Today we were in Las Condes area and felt minor movements standing on the ground. Back in the apartment the movements are more noticeable and eerie reminders during the day. The building is like an aftershock antenna - we've felt probably everyone of them on the USGS list. Minor movements like your average small tremor felt throughout the year. The one around 8:25 a.m. or so was the strongest today.

if i can help in any way let me know. i have over half a tank of diesel in the ute/pickup for you north americans.

now have light and internet back in pucon, wayhey! stoke!

had a chance to see some intl news now and realise we got off lightly.

friends just arrived from conce, quite a ride, broken roads, took most of the day. they had no ability to communicate until now so those who are seeking people there don't panic, they are likely fine but can't call out yet.

erp, I'm tired and that didn't read right. I meant "pickup" as in translated "ute" for the north americans. not that it was avaialble just for north americans. was being funny. really.

right that's a good hint I should get some sleep.

keep safe all.

I've been trying to call EEUU at various times during the day, either his phone is down or Entel is down in San Antonio.
I have been to his apt, he's safe from wave action but is on the 4th (I think) floor.
I'll try via land line in a few, if no joy I'll try to drive into SA tomorrow and track him down.

Phones - double whammy of no electricty to charge them and nowhere to put credit on them. It's coming right over the next few days and we'll hear from people.

Take care

Chile has come so far. Chile was there. It was just about over that last step to being recognized as a fully developed country. Perhaps, this is the step it had to take for the World to see Chile is different.

That is something we should explore after everyone is accounted for.

Presumably if you can get in touch with friends where there is electricity, they can add credit to your phone for you :).

We have electricity as do the shops in town here in El Quisco, but there's no where to purchase credit for cell phones. They're all out and the websites won't let you use your credit card unless you've preregistered it with them.
Does anyone want a very sweet little puppy, she's vaccinated and fixed...

hoping someone here is up at midnight reading? we've seen as i said military using water cannons, tear gas on looters, supermarkets, department stores. the damge seems quite severe. sorry but just reporting what i see. pls no accusations of glooming people please,,,also bad pichilemu, chillan, talca, collapsed highways,

many strong aftershocks last night here in santiago, i slept with my shoes on ready to run again. we are leaving the capital tomorrow am south. anyway imo the situation has grown worse over the day. if things change her in satiago i don't want to be here for the fireworks, but so far i admit santiago is tranquillo, but the situation can change if power is lost agin imo.

maybe your news elsewhere is being controlled to keep calm??? any replys

Hi Charles, so glad to hear you and Zandra are both ok. You are certainly very organized and I was touched to read what you wrote about Chile and being out there sharing the grief and anxiety with your neighbors. There's not much I can do here from Australia but if you think of something, I'm happy to help. Keep up the good work and strength to all.
