Hello all,
I'm thrilled to see Charles and everyone pulling together after this major shocker. I hope people are reunited and the aftershocks stop! People really seem to be supporting each other. We talked to an elderly woman in the building that seemed out of sorts. She was happy to have someone to talk with, and so were we.
I was with my fiancee on the 11th floor in Santiago, Providencia area for the big wakeup call Saturday. Damn crazy ride, and really scary. We visited with colleagues yesterday and tried to get back to normal today. Today, we've been continuing to clean up the apartment. But things are still weird.
The building survived pretty well, modern construction, and hats off to the designers of these buildings. Seems like they stayed true to their code.
Today we were in Las Condes area and felt minor movements standing on the ground. Back in the apartment the movements are more noticeable and eerie reminders during the day. The building is like an aftershock antenna - we've felt probably everyone of them on the USGS list. Minor movements like your average small tremor felt throughout the year. The one around 8:25 a.m. or so was the strongest today.
