Actually according to the USGS we are now over 130 recorded tremors since the main one. Its incredible, check the depth consistencies.

Nothing we have encountered was like the first. Good shakes that kind of seem like they might develop in something, but lots of little ones that mostly by the time you decide if it is a shake or your imagination it is over.

Still, we are all jumpy. My cat insist that humans are stupid for ever entering a building again after that. It took a lot of bribing to get her to come back in the house, after disappearing for the entire day.

So far, one of the most memorable moments for me was last evening, with no water, power, or communication other than a radio the whole neighborhood was out enjoying the nice spring evening. The Chilean President came on the radio to address the country, and I brought my radio out and we stood in the street, about dozen of us and listened to her. She sounded so tired and so sad. It broke my heart. I was on the verge of tears and so were all my neighbors. I still every once in a while want to breakdown in tears for the loss that Chile has suffered in so many different ways. It is my adopted country, and that evening in the street listening to her with our neighbors around the country, and understanding what they were going through, with such good people was something I will never forget.

Chile has come so far. Chile was there. It was just about over that last step to being recognized as a fully developed country. Perhaps, this is the step it had to take for the World to see Chile is different.

Just did an interview with the World Service. Hope I was not too incoherent considering how tired I am. If anyone catches it let me know.

Well, people I have not really eaten today, it is late, I will try to check back later tonight however.

We managed to make contact with about a dozen people in the last couple hours for people outside the country. We even setup a rescue for one nun who has a driver on the way to pick her up, and we located another one that could not reach her family. Helping two nuns in one day has got to count for good karma somewhere.

We are going to try this again in the morning with our office a bit more operational and more staff. Tonight has been my wife and I working the phones, forum, and email along with some brave drivers operating in a disaster zone after dark (1 is still out on the road).

We have power back, hope it lasts. The internet seems to be back too. There was no cell phone service either. The well broke down the day before, needed some bearings or something and we have no water either except bottled. the timing....

I am in Pirque as well and that scared the crap out of me. Very, very strong and very loud, the earth rumbling. The house had no damage at all. The paper said it was still 8.0 here. The bed pitched like I was in the Exorcist movie and everything swayed. outside the pond had a mini tsunami. I am amazed there was no damage-ok there was that half a bottle of wine :D
and I hate the aftershocks, there have been many. Most small but you can sometimes hear the rumbling and I think omg, not again. My heart stops. Maybe it is worse because I had grown accustomed to the little tremors that are common and sleep right through them (or the loud birds or all the dogs barking). As I sit here, there was another small aftershock.

No damage though, no one hurt at all and not even a broken window. But the old wall fell down in front of Concha y Toro and the old church has much damage. In Puente Alto, some stores are open. Long, long lines. Gas is rationed, 10,000 each and really long lines there too.

Thanks to everyone who posted news here

Yeah, sorry, I was briefly in contact with the BBC (via the other thread) and suggested you might be a better person to talk to. I hope it wasn't too stressful.
