Payment method for Visa?

Postby cafecreme » Thu Feb 25, 2010 6:15 pm

So, next week, I shall be going to the lovely Extranjeria to apply for my temporary resident's visa, once my employer has given me my notarised job offer letter.

My question is, for anyone from a country where you have to pay for this visa, how do you pay? Cash? Payment into their bank account? I'm assuming not a credit card, which would be lovely and simple.

I'm asking because as a UK citizen, I will have to pay the equivalent of $1230 in CLP for the visa and then half that again, so $615 for a permit to work while my visa comes through. And I'm not hugely happy about carting all that around in cash...

(I did attempt to go into the Extranjeria and ask, but was answered with a grunted instrution to take a ticket. Didn't fancy joining the queue...)

They do not accept payment directly. You go to the any bank or servipag and deposit the money (http://www.servipag.com). With that receipt you return to their office with the proof of payment.

Not sure. They should. Anything with a visa symbol should work. Worth a try. Normally any visa card run through a machine is fine. It is when they try to phone things in that the system chokes.
