In no previous death of a U.S. citizen by the hands of the U.S. government has the government claimed the right to kill Americans without arrest, trial, and conviction of a capital crime.

In contrast, Dennis Blair has told the U.S. Congress that the executive branch has assumed the right to murder Americans who it deems a "threat."

What defines "threat"? Who will make the decision? What it means is that the government will murder whomever it chooses.

There is no more complete or compelling evidence of a police state than the government announcing that it will murder its own citizens if it views them as a "threat."

Ironic, isn’t it, that "the war on terror" to make us safe ends in a police state with the government declaring the right to murder American citizens who it regards as a threat."

I was recently talking to someone that told me a story of going through U.S. customs with a German citizen that lived through the cold war in East Germany. The German commented to him as they were passing through security how similar it was to how it all started in East Germany.

Dennis Blair is one of President Obama's hand-picked "czars", and that alone guarantees he is one weird-ass dude. To be fair, Blair said he could authorize the murder of American citizens abroad without any due process. Comforting to know, isn't it?

A week ago I went to Canada from the US to buy a car from a friend.
On the way back I was the only one crossing during a snowstorm at the border in Champlain, NY.
I had overdone my paperwork in fear of customs issues so I had everything remotely possible.
Unfortunately that didnt help. Customs was confused as to why I had so much info that truckers normally have and decided that, in and of itself, was an odd thing plus the fact that I had limited luggage and little cash on hand but I had only flown up 2 days prior to pick up the car and come back.
So they brought 3 of their CBP trucks over, surrounded me and escorted me over to their inspection area.
There they approached the car, albeit with no info or reason given thus far, ordered me out, took my keys and everything in my car including my bag, wallet, gps, clothes, etc.
They then escorted me into detention area in a room with 1 chair, double sided glass and nothing else and left me there for 1.5 hours with no reasons given and nothing said nor answers to my questions, what I felt was a lack of due process or evidence for any wrong-doing.
After the 1.5 hrs they came in, gave me my papers back and said, you can go, oh by the way, the dogs messed up your car inside so you may want to clean it up and they walked away.

I was apalled and yet again, still with no answers, questions or rights in the situation.
When I arrived at my car the interior was filled with mud and snow and paw prints from the dogs and they had put holes in my leather seats from their nails.

Now, I am happy to submit to make sure everyone is safe but when there is no reason, no suspicion and no answers to my questions which seemed without cause, there is something wrong.
Is this what its coming too? If it was like this for everyone then why is it that anyone makes it close to this country with a bomb of any sort?

At USA border areas, the Constitution has always been suspended. PC and RS are not needed for searches. As a USA citizen, your only right is to remain silent though they may detain you to verify you are in fact a US citizen and search your belongings and person till satisfied there is nothing they can charge or arrest you for. I believe this can be up to 72 hours.

On the flip side, I crossed the boarder from Mexico one time with some Canadian friends about three weeks after 911 with a truckload of furniture and a kitten and female dog in the back (yea, their dogs could not even approach the truck without going nuts). We told them that we had all been in Central America for a couple of years, and were heading home. Not even a question or a look under the tarp other than asking where we were headed. To Las Vegas and then to Canada was the answer. We were stopped again when we reached the hoover dam. Again, their dogs were useless within a 100 yards of the truck. That time they did at least have a quick look under the tarp, but no one bothered to ask us to open any of the boxes. That was the checkpoint just before you cross the dam, that they were suppose to be protecting.

It is all pretend political feel good bs security.

You know I have been to Canada dozens of times, and have never ever once encountered a boarder patrol or even a checkpoint in either direction. In fact, most of time I was in Canada for a day at least before I was certain I was in Canada. It was in a Canoe in the BWCA. There are no officials of any kind for 100 miles in any direction. As I recall we normally had something like 4 to 14 canoes every time, loaded with hundreds of pounds of equipment and typically about a dozen people in our group. So, what is the point of a boarder checkpoint with Canada?

My parents lived through WW 2 in Europe. They lived in The Netherlands. They had many tales to tell about life under the NAZIs. Time is interesting. They were telling me the stories to me when I was ten or so, in 1965 or so. To me, it sounded like ancient history. To them, it was recent history; Gulf War One is that long ago now

My parents recollections about life under a repressive political system stay in my memory.
I learned about how Germany changed in the 1930s by reading and watching the History channel.

I can see the USA changiing, surely but slowly, and at an increasing pace. Kind of like boiling a frog.

I am curious, regarding at least domestic airline flights in Chile, or in other SA countries, is the airport security like it is in the US, or is it more like a free country, like we used to be long ago?
