Pirated? No, I don't think I got it from anyone in Somalia. Although I did think it was strange that they asked if I was looking for a slightly used oil tanker
I am not exactly sure what I am watching. That is why I am going to build some glasses and see if it works. I can definitely see the fuzzy effects around objects, but it is still sufficiently crisp to watch. So, it might be just a 2D. The screen is sufficiently large at about 6 feet across, and we are sitting only about 6 feet from the screen, so it fills our visual field pretty completly.
One of the reasons I bought the projector was because the last time I went to movie theater in Chile, the quality of their projector and the sound was so poor I felt like I got completely ripped off. Not to mention I was sick for 2 weeks after. If you go to a theater these days (even a new one in the States), there is very little techinical difference between any projector you buy off of Amazon for around a $1,000 - $2,000 US and what they are using in the theaters. Especially in Temuco. They have one theater that I believe has a high definition digital projector in it, and the rest are old vga or something ( the lamps seem to have insufficient power to reach the other side of the rooms). The sound was really bad. Like someones car stereo system with just two speakers in the front. All that, and I paid the same as I would in the U.S. more or less for a ticket.
