With respect to Greg~Judy, and their words: they seem to be good and honest guys, and speak very simple language, and their words are sincere and are coming from their heart, so why not to answer their questions? :)

Please don't mix them with Rune who is but a well-known a$$hole here, and the #1 "uneducated ape" (even though they understand, and can speak his "language"). :alien:

Of all the posters on AllChile Rune is my favorite. I am a compulsive obsessive machinist, a nuts and bolts kind of person. People like Rune and Greg/Judy force me to think outside of the proverbial box I often find myself residing in. I am happy that he has finally found someone who is able to talk to him on his level of understanding. It must get lonely up there! :D

Many thanks, Rune... you are both perceptive and wise.
Although tangential to my original post (homeless & seeking)... I have enjoyed our diverse (perverse?) discussions - and had much food for thought in grazing the greener grass with you.

I am also glad that this thread has finally attracted (?) a wider audience... (well met, my friends)
Although we might wander to and fro on the vagaries of words, semantics, life, truth, existence... hey...WTF?

But - to circle back to the start (as surely all things in existence exhibit circularity)... where do our new participants live in the Long, Thin Country... and what do you find there... ?
No need to elaborate at length... perhaps just a short haiku - of a location and an attribute, or attraction?

To wit...
azure waters flow swift
fish swim, kayakers play
eco-charms in Futaleufu

Many thanks to you too, helitool...
Nice to be appreciated (...eh Rune?)
The more of the whirld I have seen and traveled, the more I find myself thinking and living outside that proverbial box.
If more beings escaped from that box... it would be a better whirld (IMHO)

Here you go! You're making progress, Rune. Quote Greeks more often, for they are better understood and can be correctly presented.

Should someone give an advice with regard to a "good" place to live, and then some other one listens to it, and then, a couple of years later, something bad would happen to the listener in the said "good" place.. what would they say about such adviser?.. Good words?.

And yet another reason for not giving advice is that I have not found a place for myself yet..

Having said that, here a link (note I never stayed there, and I don't know the owners): Google the "Refugio del Tricahue" (that is at the Armerillo village, before the "Puente de los Vientos", VII region.

Their Website wrote:... Lost in the vegetation, in a very quiet place, far from the stress of town and the classical travel ways, this little paradise is reserved for nature lovers in search of authenticity.

From the refuge, you can go trekking in the very close private park (see http://www.parquetricahue.cl), enter to Altos del Lircay National Park, discover the valleys, the little typical chilean villages, see beautiful rivers...

At some hundred meters from the refuge, discover the three main rivers of the area, and have a bath in the hot waters of the Maule River (in summer), in the very clear waters of the Tricahue River (at 1 km), in the cold waters of the Claro River (at 500 meters), in the Armerillo River, where local young people meet (at 3 km), or in the delicious clear and hot waters of the Melado River's pools (at 2 km).

We speak French, English, Spanish, a bit of Dutch and Chinese...

But then that absolves the recipient of the "advice" with
1) due diligence with regard their intended actions...
2) ultimate responsibility for their own actions

Hence... give me advice...
let me duly consider...
and make a decision - of which I must take ultimate & individual responsibility.

What say you...
Your advices... (and/or haiku)?
As Dubya famously said... Bring 'em on!
Permit me the ability for individual choice and responsibility.

Good one. However, these "guys" are still Homeless, and are still Seeking, while you are obviously not, for you have already found and purchased your dream home "by the beach", right?.. :)

Cochiguaz? Maybe an interesting place to live. Though, the "mystical" Cochiguaz Valley is definitely not for everyone.

Here is one link:

{ Removed a link to parcelas for sale near "El Colorado", that is reachable from Monte Grande (around 18 km by dirt road, the only road towards "Cochiguaz"), as that link is no longer valid. }

With regard to that place in the VII region, that was mentioned earlier, here is what I have to add: From this place, some kilometers towards the border with Argentina, the Maule river is joined by the Puelche river..
HydroChile will invest U.S. $ 140 million in three power plants (50 MW) in Maule. The firm HydroChile introduced the project Puelche River Hydroelectric power plant, the construction and operation of three passing power plants with a generating capacity of 50 MW in total, two of them located in Puelche river and the third one in El Alto, in the Maule region, through an investment of U.S. $ 140 million.
