Need help in Pucon..
Hi folks!!
1. We’re getting married in Pucon on the 29th. By law, we have to have a translator, (Spanish to English) for the ceremony. According to the lady at the registry, it doesn’t have to be a professional, just somebody who knows Spanish and English. Is there anyone in the vicinity who is able/willing to be here on the mornings of the 27th AND 29th of January please?
2. We’re going to need buy a pick up truck as soon after the sale of the house in Maine as possible, which (at this point) is scheduled to be the 8th of February. The date seems a little flexible for my taste but there is little I can do about it from here..
What do we need to know/do to purchase/drive a vehicle here? Is it better to look for something here in the Pucon/Villarrica area or should we try to make a day trip and look for some help to find something in Temuco?
3. We have a realtor helping us look for a place to rent while we see what we can afford to do, and where to buy a place.. What do we need to do, legally, before we buy? The terms of agreements here seem a little loose, which is fine as long as nobody gets creative, but should that take place, I’ll be the one at the disadvantage. Can one (a Gringo) expect to be screwed as a general rule or are people normal to deal with here?
4. It seems that I have the biggest feet in Chile. I wear a size 13, (US) and when I ask, I get anything from a blank stare to a laugh out of the clerk here in Pucon. Do I need to go to L.L.Bean and have something sent here? Am I even allowed without paying Duty on them?
5. I take Oxycodone for a back injury from the Army. It appears that one can’t even get a prescription for the stuff here. Now what? The V.A does what it does, but not enough to deal with it now that I have to actually "do something".. I have a little, but it will be gone in a month. Any thoughts on this one, please?
Thanks on anything anybody can offer here,
Joe and Tania
