Citibank USA still expat friendly

Postby eeuunikkeiexpat » Thu Aug 13, 2009 1:56 pm

I had my ATM card eaten by a BancoEstado ATM more than a week ago.

Went there twice during the week to try to retrieve it and relieve the imagined headache of getting a new one from the States and the info clerk claimed she never saw it.

So I contact Citi via the secure online messaging system. They cancel the card and I had no way to communicate with them except by phone about getting a new card and to ask if it could be sent to me in Chile though my bank address is on the East Coast and at what price.

The last time this happened to me was in Mexico City 12 years ago and Citibank sent me a new one without charge to my hotel!

I suspected in these times, they would not be as generous. Surprise! Today I receive the new card and no fee (as of yet) was charged for this service.

My other bank who I've fought with before would never send a card to me in Chile but Citibank again has proven to be a true international oriented bank.

Kudos to the not so $hitty Citi!

They canceled my credit card a few months ago, after being a customer for like 12 years. Although, I was the kind of client credit cards companies hate. No balance, payed off the first month when I used, and worst of all I had not used it in like 2 years. It is a use it or loose it credit card World these days.
