Any idea on when Paris will be opening up at the mall? Once that opens up, it might make the mall a little more interesting. Right now it's pretty boring, the best thing is the food court lol. Anyhow, if we make it into town soon, I'll have my bf try out his bank card at Banco del Desarrollo.... he's got a different bank so we'll see if they try to stick us with a fee.

I was going to try and confirm what is going on with CorpBanca, but the machine was out of order. I went across the street to Itaú and no fee there.

Snowman,
Can you double-check to see if this was a Chile-side fee or your bank in Canada-side fee?

We're not Scotiabank customers yet we don't pay any fees from their ATMs (we used to for maybe a month or two). This is with ATM cards from a regional bank in New England.

Can't speak for snowman, but a couple weeks ago tried to use the Banco de Desarrollo in San Antonio and the machine was out service. Had to go down the block to BCI and use their machine. The machine charged me $2500 pesos on top of what I took out and Scotiabank Canada charged my $5 cdn out of my account there. So in total, using BCI's machine cost me just over $10 cdn in service fees.

I used Corpabanca before and was not charged fees on the Chilean side only. This was about a month ago.

The $5 showed up on our on-line Scotia Bank statement in Canada as service charge. When we took out the 200,000 $CH at the CorpBanca, that's what we actually got out of the machine. When we used the Scotia here, again we got the 200,000 $CH but no $5 charge in Canada, the exchange in both transactions showed up as expected.

Plus cards not honoured

Postby zizzles » Tue Feb 02, 2010 9:57 am

I use an Australian bank Plus debit card. Since Chile Forum alerted me to some banks not charging the ATM fee, I’ve been using Corp Banca in Viña, fee-free until last month. Now I find that none of the supposedly fee-free bank ATMs will accept my card, even though they all display the Plus logo. I’ve been to Banco de Desarollo, Scotiabank and Corp Banca in Viña and Valparaíso. They say “access denied” or “your personal identification number is wrong”. Today I’ve capitulated and gone to BBVA where of course I paid the 2.500 peso fee, for the first time in about 6 months.

Does anyone know what’s up, why are certain Plus ATMs no longer recognising Plus cards?
