All is revealed in your Ts and Cs. Unless you have a CitiGold account, it is not one of the good ones. Also, do a "SEARCH".

I would also hope to preserve the subject of this thread which is on Chile-side fees on foreign debit cards.

"Yes" at a "Santander" redbank ATM. 2,000 fee. Yesterday.

Here in Argentina I went to a Santander and no fee for an ATM transaction on a Visa check card. :alien:

Just in Chile it seems.

My husband has a Banco de Chile checking account and has not seen this fee. I know he is charged something monthly for being able to take out money with his ATM card, but it is definitely less than 2,000 pesos.

Isn't the correct bank name BBVA not BBVI?

That is a big 10-4 on the Santander ATM using U.S. visa.

My bank refunded the fee.

Man I love Etrade!!!!! Hands down the best bank for international travelers / expats.

I use an E*trade checking account, and they refund all my ATM transaction fees charged by third-party ATM's. I just was not sure they would refund on foreign ATM's. I have not been hit with an ATM charge in so long outside the U.S., I could not remember. So when I got home and looked at my account there was $3.65 cent refund in my account next to the transaction.

I have not tried Banco Estado ATM yet.

A Schwab checking account is also a solid option. Schwab will reimburse you for any ATM fees incurred and gives you parity on the exchange rate (rather than taking 1-2%).

Banco Estado anyone? (Assuming your card works there - hit or miss).
