gutters: copper; guards?

Postby otravers » Wed Jun 24, 2009 2:22 pm

Right now we have PVC gutters on our new house, and that's what I'm going to afford for a while. However, over the long run I'd like to overhaul for something better-looking and with better water management. It doesn't rain often in ConCon, but when it rains it pours. Sodimac has a pretty limited choice. Did anyone know where to find for sale (Santiago/Region V):

- gutter guards (like what's featured here guttersupply.com/p-gutter-leaf-guards.gstml). These I'd like to have rather soon.

- copper gutters? Come on, copper comes from Chile! This is more of a long-term consideration.

Not sure if I would go with copper... when things get tough in Chile and the price of copper is high, people are willing to risk their lives to take it from the power lines.

Gutters would make an extremely easy target since there is no electricity flowing through them. But I don’t have any other suggestions as to what you can use… I haven’t seen very many houses with gutters on them so I don’t know if the aluminum ones even exist in Chile.

You know it's a good point, my wife mentioned theft right away when I told her I was researching this. An alternative is to hide the vinyl gutters behind panels which is something I've seen done quite often here.
