TO CLARIFY:

I posted three flu related links.
1. BBC personal reports from people mainly in Mexico.
2. The "controversial" article on an alternate perspective of the flu.
3. The Flu Wiki link.

I do not agree or endorse all of the opinions stated in these links. I merely felt that they were worth looking at for people's first hand experiences, alternate perspectives, and information that was not included in the mass media reports.

However, as I stated, I do agree that fear is counter productive and puts us into a position where we can be easily manipulated. This is not where I want to be.

The occasional attack mentality of this forum really doesn't serve the purpose of being a welcoming entry door to Chile. We certainly don't have to agree, but we also don't have to attack.

Then let's define Knowledge and Truth on this board, shall we?.. :alien:

Such statements, and many similar 'truths', would be perfectly acceptable, when cited by those knowing what 'knowledge' is, knowing what 'truth' is, and knowing how things 'exist'. To be properly engaging in critical thinking, wouldn't it be a good idea to have an idea what our 'thinking' is first. And not just an idea, but real knowing of what our 'thinking' is.

Would any formal training in logic, or any formal training in critical thinking, help anyone to obtain such knowing?

I'm not attacking you, dear. Just the imbecile that you linked to. If you feel admonished by proxy, then I'm sorry, but that kinda comes with the territory when you post controversial information, which is exactly what that was. This guys espouses very dangerous tenets relating to turning your back on conventional medicine and instead just thinking "happy thoughts." While I think that there are other perspectives and approaches outside of medical science that can be combined WITH proper medical treatment, polarized views such as his can prey upon and mislead some of the most vulnerable people in our society and fill them with nonsensical thoughts and ideas that end up leading them down the wrong path.

As far as attack mentality and welcome feelings go, this hardly fits the bill as being counterproductive. In fact, bulk doses of happy-feely banter does little good to help anybody out on controversial topics like this where misinformation can lead to very real and dire consequences.

In fact, yes it would.

Though I honestly believe, that almost all of the so-called 'alternative medicine', 'spiritual development' or 'esoteric knowledge' websites are filled with nonsensical thoughts and ideas, that may lead people down the wrong path.

And though I equally doubt, that any of the 'conventional medicine', 'classical science' or 'traditional knowledge' websites may show people the right way.

Yet I feel that some posters do 'attack' other posters on this topic, while stating they don't.

Rune and I are about as pohler opposites as posters can be Clint. So Rune won't appreciate you associating me with him, although I wouldn't mind being associated with someone as kind as he is. I just wonder what you have, really, to offer, as to your insights into Chile, and how you find yourself aligned with an entitlement to opinions on a forum about Chile. Maybe you can enlighten us, and I will apologize for being a big B. I await your comments.

..but the subject is Chile Travel, Swine Flu...and it is important for travelers, and citizens. I welcome the updates and info for coming and going in Chile. I was just at the Argentina border and saw nothing from there to here, or the other way to indicate that they are concerned. That is a concern, I suppose. But this is an isolated border, little traveled. If I spot anything, or hear anything new, I will check in.
