Oh my God. That's the funniest thing I've read for ages. Did they pay someone to write that? We should send them a link for this topic.

Re: Correos

Postby jehturner » Sun Jan 30, 2011 11:55 am

So my wife recently tried the new Correos "courier" service for sending a passport to the USA (yes, great idea of the British foreign office to issue them on another continent). Apparently the package got there quite quickly, based on my credit card bill, but the Correos "tracking" page mysteriously stops at Santiago, where it is recorded as arriving 2 weeks ago. Until recently their page showed the intermediate delivery times up to "planta Santiago" and no further information, but now everything has disappeared except for a single line incorrectly showing it still in Santiago. My wife also sent another package by this service that arrived in the US within a few days, so apparently the "courier" does get there in a reasonable time but the tracking does NOT work. Thanks, Correos; why does this not surprise me?

Yeah, I just got something from Christmas on Friday.

Let's see. The national post office is a leader in the postal market? What an achievement; I wonder how they pulled that off?

I ordered a book before chirstmas from the US, a book! nothing fancy or special....it still hasn't arrived, I'm considering it lost/stolen at this stage! Maybe I'll get surprised and receive it sometime this year!
I've never paid anything to the postman for the regular mail - the concierge receives everything and we get it at the lobby.

Well....surprise! My book arrived today!!!! yayayayayayay!!! Seems they are starting to catch up on the Christmas mail. However I still think Correos Chile SUCKS big time  .....almost 2 months for it to arrive, the corners are somewhat damaged, US Priority Mail and all, my shattered nerves!!! Unacceptable! And they received a quality award for their service??????

I sent a package from Canada in Oct that arrived last week, and a package sent end of Nov to Canada arrived last week. Two packages sent end of Nov, Canada to Chile for Christmas arrived before Christmas. This is slow by 20 years of comparisons, but the good thing is they all arrived I was fearing the books sent to Chile in Oct were lost not lost just late, everything got jammed up in the mail.

Bumping the thread a little, to share my experiences..
A friend mailed me a small package from Sweden Dec 23, still haven't seen it. We've been in contact with the Correos a couple of times, they asked for tracking number.. but it was regular mail - no tracking number. I know it hasn't gone back to Sweden. It's out there, somewhere.. all alone. ;(

SO - when my mother decided to try to send a rather large package, also from Sweden, I told her that it might get lost. Regular mail this one as well (could be tracked within Sweden though, not that it would help that much..). Didn't want to get my hopes up, but about a month later it arrived here! Someone (still don't know if that was actually the Correos..) delivered it to our door, paid 2000 for it and it was all good. It was unopened, unharmed.. and the cats got a fancy box to play with! :D

I get my marked assignments returned to me via regular mail from Australia and they consistently take 14-16 days to arrive from when I get the notification from the university that they've been mailed.
