The Tenio Natural Reserve is a 70H property on the penisula south of Puerto Montt, and is devoted to education and conservation - nonprofit, sin fines de lucro.
The Tenio Natural Reserve was founded in 2006 for the protection and management of the small "Reserva Natural de Tenios." TNR works with a number of local and international partners to develop the majority of the area into a private reserve, open to the general public for education and research. The emphasis in 2008-2010 will be on fostering local economic and educational development by integrating community members into our efforts. The project will also address the planning and development of an educational campground dedicated to regional ecosystems. Located on the peninsula south of Puerto Montt, between I-5 and the coastal route, Putenio is located in the heart of the remaining rain forests of the region.
Putenio means "Between the Tenio Trees."
As it develops you'll see nature trails, native flora and fauna clearly marked for class visits, and we'll see as it grows. We have a couple cabins that we'll rent next summer, but all of that goes back into the project development.
