a Chilean made prefab in the States. Interesting.

I would not read much in to the bad web site thing. Some of the biggest companies in Chile have broken web sites, and if it is a .cl all in spanish with flash, chances are you would only see it in google.cl from inside Chile.

Well, if he bought it at an auction, and the materials price was a deal....I could understand that. A grab bag, of sorts. Hope it works out. Wonder why we can't find "kits" here?

You would more than likely still need a permit if you were using it as a permanent structure for human habitation. Just because it is a kit house doesn’t mean it will pass inspection, especially if it is build to a foreign “code”.

You are correct Jason, permits are required for this type of building. I'm considering not involving the city planning dept. as the plot is outside city limits and most, if not all, the structures around there are non-permitted.

The county should still have a permit department. I know in Alberta (and the rest of Canada for that matter) you can not legally construct a permanent structure with out a permit. It doesn’t matter if there is no one around for 1000 km.

Not trying to cost you more money than you are ready to pay but the building may be uninsurable with out a permit.

yes, its a risk to go it without a permit - insurance, resale, fines, etc..
but its $2000 US for the septic permit- more than the cost of the tank itself.. $8000 school fee on top of permit fee
its gotten a bit absurd..
