The Obama Administration

Postby admin » Tue Jan 20, 2009 11:31 am

Thought I would start a fresh thread for this, covering what Obama does for Chile, Latin America, and the World (right or wrong).

Just a few more hours.

Well it looks like more of the same. For a guy who got elected on the basis of how things will change, the usual suspects are back in the usual positions. I'll give him 6 months to show us for good or bad how he plans actual change. Of course he's got 4 yrs to pull it off.

I agree. We can divine some probabilities for action from the man's words, but a year or so should show the realities -- though reliable historians mightn't weigh in 'til after we're dead.

Seriously? Do you really think so? With Hilary Clinton co-opted into this administration, her fortunes rise or fall with it. And by 2016, most voters likely will think her too old to be president. (As for Diane Feinstein or Nancy Pelosi . . . .)

Let’s not forget Sarah Palin. The last eight years have shown that a democracy is as good as the people in it, and it is up to Obama to demonstrate that the members of this one have now redeemed themselves. Otherwise...

I'm hopeful, I would love to see a woman in the WH.Anything is possible, the pages of history needs to change even more.Women power is on the rise. It's loud and clear right here in Chile, women are the force and back bone of this country. :alien:

As long as it is not a woman for woman's sake. I don't think we managed to put an African American in the white house just because he was African American. It took the right mix of background, otherwise Jessy Jackson would have been elected (thank God that one did not happen).

I'm anxious to see how he does. I just hope that he doesn't screw around and slaughter expats with taxes in the next couple years...

Hear, hear. It saddens me to hear celebrate the novelty as though it were substance. Certainly we want to observe that a person is a woman, or a black, or a girl, or a Moslem, and so on, so on, on, on, on, on. But to retain these incidents as badges of separation undermines the very acceptance we seek to foster.

For me, the other sad note in today's air is the expectation that government -- and most particularly, the federal government -- will do all, including what we should do individually and in direct co-operation with others.

Exactly.

"Oh SAAAVE us Obama!!!" It's disgusting. Cult of personality. As if......

RWS I know you know what is what, but for the tender souls here, It's SOLD OUT. Has been for a long time. If you try to really change things, important things like JFK wished to do such as the USA issuing it's own currency in the form of USA notes and abolishing the for profit, foreign-owned private corporation erronously called the 'Federal Reserve' (it's neither). Well, if you try real change you get a bullet in the head like JFK. That's not negative. That's FACT.

Obama knows who is the boss and he will do whatever his handlers tell him to do.

"Jump?"

".....how high?"
