Vanman, if you are on that short of a shoestring, Peru will be kinder to you, but remember to factor in (getting back on topic) an "Obama factor" of 50% reduction of USD buying power in the next 18 mo.

Negativity brings more of the same.Let's give the man a chance. This will be the last time will see a man in charge of the WH.Next will be a WOMAN! :alien:

I know. I can't say anything about the Sainted One or mention his sacred name, p.u.b.h. (peace be unto him) or I may be up on charges. Double-bad thought crime which is a class 2 felony.

I'm getting the feeling that the Sainted One thinks he's 'in charge.' I doubt he will do anything that directly contravenes the parasites, such as abolish the FED. RESV. I.M.O. the Sainted One is not smart enough to think of that. That's partly why he was selected and groomed for all these years, he's pliable and not too smart. But I think he will annoy his owners quite a bit with various "pet issues" that are not part of the greater agenda. It will be instructive to watch this comedy as it plays out.

You know what is really hideous? You sainted ones on this thread who pound your hairy fists over any thoughts that might not bash the new administration. Not one of you has addressed Laura's comments, except to belch and fart your way through your talking points. No one said Obama was a saint, or a savior...one might wonder why you try so hard to attribute that to posts which point out possible contradictions to the former administration.

Take your hairy knuckles and find something more productive to do with them.

A lot of mud rucking going on here. Since it is a political discussion, I guess it fits. :)

As for any sainted ones on the forum, I don't remember Rune weighing in on the discussion. He is probably off trying to learn how to wire a house from the sparrows.

While RWS doesn't find criminal law intellectually stimulating, that doesn't equate him with being uncaring and a snob. Gee, even I remember him saying, in between packing his books, that half of his work was pro bono (not to be confused with Sonny - yet another politician!) helping poor people. I had to look back to see how long that was. As eeuu says, search is your friend. He really didn't need to mention that fact again to someone who has been on forum for quite some time. But I would have been a little irritated too.

Whether or not the new president will do a good job, only time will tell.

I went down Virginia seekin' shelter from the storm
Caught up in the fable I watched the tower grow
Five year plans and new deals wrapped in golden chains
And I wonder, still I wonder who'll stop the rain

I wonder how far up the priority list getting a second term is?

We have already had a Messiah, sainted one, etc etc and look where Tony Blair left us...
Tony B liar spent most of his first stint getting re elected.

I hope Obama is the genuine article and not some PR product.

I thought this was a very smart article that touches on Obama's forward thinking on the stimulus package.

Thanks for the link, "AK". The surprising aspect of the essay is not that we've reached economic and environmental unsustainability but, rather, that Mr. Friedman believes we reached unsustainability only last year. Careful observers have been broadcasting warnings for forty years or more.

And, yet, some people continue to have more than two children apiece!
