The New Casino in Antofagasta

Eat before you go. We went to the restaurant and waited 15 minutes after we ordered drinks twice (10 minutes after we ordered the second time). It's not like the place was rediculously crowded either. So we skipped the dinner and went gambling. Oh wait, stopped for a drink first, at one of TWO bars I found in the whole casino! As a drinker I am really getting sick of the wait in line to pay, and wait at the bar with a slip routine. Almost five minutes in each line, yes worse than anywhere I have been so far. I was expecting the casino to be a bit better regarding service - it was far worse. Upside: they did have Grey Goose vodka and Irish whiskey. The only thing that made it ok was that I walked out of there taking a total of 60.000 AFTER figuring drinks. I will go back, but definitely not for food. Also they didn't have enough blackjack tables open (yes there were empty tables on a Saturday night). There, that feels better! I'll try again in about a month.

How many decks at the BJ (no feelthy thoughts, please!) table? In short, can one count cards at this casino? Drinking is for after the BJ!

Sorry John I didn't see your question until now. Looks like six decks, and the dealer doesn't take a hole card either. The hole card is the next card off the deck after the last hit. Strange to say the least. Not all enjoy casinos are the same either. For exampIe when I went to Pucon they took a hole card and had the card reader for it (if the dealer has a face on their shown ace for blackjack after insurance is offered).

The new casino eems to be worth checking out although the first review was not too promising, I also hate when I want to gamble and have to queue for drinks - no beautiful waitresses? I played a lot of blackjack three or four years ago, with card counting all the tricks. But I switched to playing Texas Holdem recently because it's more fun and you don't play "against" the casino. I've won a few bucks so far and that's good enough for me, havin fun is the most important aspect.

Not sure about Antofagasta, but in Vina, they have Texas Hold Em with a 100.000 peso buy in and 1.000/2.000 blinds. They play very tight and if you don't play accordingly, it can be a short night .... :D
