Please, How can I volunteer ?

Postby ken » Wed Oct 01, 2008 6:38 pm

Hello. I am in Valparaiso/Vina del Mar for 4 more months. I´m visiting my son, but I don´t want to spend all my time as a "tourist". Are there places where I could teach or tutor English or Math in Chile, with people of any age? I would like to volunteer my time while I´m here in this terrific country. Please send me any info you may have. Thanks!

You know, Ken, the crying needs for volunteers aren't in teaching English but in community-based charities. Perhaps you'd consider animal-welfare groups or assistance to the poor.

Hi Ken,
I am sure that MinEduc could do with a part time volunteer teaching English!
Get in touch with Jimmy Kuka and he'll let you know what is available.

Ken,

Many universities welcome volunteers to practice English conversation with their students. You might want to check out the International Office at local universities where you live to see if the option is available for you.
