Does the RUT get ya in a rut?....Chile is a heavy taxer, which has many tax sharing agreements, including the U.S.

I can attest to that -- I have some weird visa and I clearly remember buying some chicha but have no recollection of drinking it. I think it must have evaporated.

Not sure whether anyone's still following this thread, but...

I think there is an element of luck involved with VTR contracts. My wife took one out with no questions and no employment, but when the deputy directory of my organization (who earns considerably more than me) tried to do it in the same town, they threw all kinds of hurdles in his way. Both have RUT numbers and the same legal status. Here's a hint though: it seems that things are more difficult whenever you try to contract a phone line. So if you have problems, you could try contracting the TV service first, using a mobile phone, and adding in more services after, say, a few months. We originally started off with just the TV service because at that time our landlord provided a phone.

Cheers,

James.

Once i got my RUT, I sent VTR a copy of my tenancy agreement for my apartment and a copy of my international assignment letter from work (in English) and they were round the same day no problem - Cable and Internet. Didnt try to get phone services but i doubt there would have been a problem

You might want to check out their special package (pack light VTR): you pay the price of two services but you get three (cable, internet, and phone line).
