I just came back from Jewel of India. I was delighted with the flavor and level of spices of their food...Customer service of this place is also great. His owner, Rakeesh, is at the restaurant taking care of all the details. He first, showed me around the restaurant, explained the dinning rooms decorations, showed me the patio, the open kitchen.... Very nice guy.

I´ve tried indian food in several countries and this one is superb. A bit on the pricey side but toootaly worth it!

good cheap downtown lunch Indian eats, 2 choices of curry, chapati, rice and small salad, about 3900 pesos, Can also order off the menu and get something different for slightly higher price. Daily specials are 1 with chicken and one veggie. New Horizon, on Merced, near Chinese Mark (west of J. M de la Barra). Not bad, cheap, and convenient (if you are/live downtown during the day).

I also really liked Rishtedar, but again with the inscense. Outside was fine. The food was a little nouvelle-fancy in some ways (paneer tikka was all arranged on the plate with fancy sauces and such), but portions were plentiful, and very tasty. Pricey though.

thanks for the review, i saw this place the other day and was wondering if it was good! i like curry, but i dont like the prices of the other places in santiago, im use to curry as fast food back home not fine dining, so this might put it back in the fast foor price bracket!

I´m also a fan of Jewel of India. OK, it´s not cheap, but then on the other hand it´s well prepared food; it just depends on what you´re looking for. I would say the food is probably better at Majestic in downtown, but it´s a hassle getting there and I really dislike the typical Indian decor.

A taste of India on Av Vitacura is better than Majestic (both locations) imo and I think a bit cheaper too.

Are you sure about that? I lived in Korea and had a good Korean friend whose family owns a restaurant. Their specialty? Boshintang (보신탕). That's dog soup, and from what I gathered, the Chinese and Koreans prefer dogs with dark meat. That's the 'best.' Don't ask me though. I never ate dog soup, but I did adopt a dog from there, and at times have wished he'd been turned into dog soup. Ha.

Hey!! What the hell is this?! It's about Jewel of India!

Is this legit? I mean, I love dogs and all but I'm not too keen on having them roaming around the kitchen. Could it be just an irate worker who got laid off? I'm concerned now cause I ate at this place a few weeks ago..
