If this is a "either Mark goes, or I go" proposition, I'll gladly go. You contribute much more than I do. I wouldn't want to be here, and known as the person who drove you away. (Although, we're getting back into what I perceive to be co-dependent behaviors again. I'm being controlled by you, because evidently I control you.).

In an earlier post (and, to some extent in this one) you hinted that the community is threatened, presumably by the notion that, if they have to be careful of leading topics off course by their own comments, everything would be in jeopardy. My first thought was, is the community really that delicate? What's the problem with just the norms of civil society that, in a forum where sensitive (or provocative) topics which are expected to lead to a loss of expected decorum should be avoided?

I think that is the nicest thing anyone has ever said about the forum. The Lonely planet (the old lonely planet) was my travel bible for years, and I always thought I wanted my sites about Chile to be as informative.

I've been quietly promoting your site for a long time at the Thorn Tree via my profile.

Had my profile deleted at VT just for one little reference to allchile.net.

I posted a reference six weeks ago on www [dot] expatexchange [dot] net. They let it go through. It's still there.

"Virtual Tourist"? Not that it should matter, as any forum intolerant of ours isn't likely to appeal to me.

I appreciate the effort. Those type of links where really critical when we first got going, and they continue to be important especially when they come as natural recommendations from members of both. Both sites serve a purpose.

We publish articles on expatfocus and other expat sites, and have fairly good working relationship with the editors.

I would like to ask about one forum rule. It's about "Chile classifieds"
I thought to post an ad and offer exchange/sell me Chilean tickets. The rules say:
3. Item must be in Chile. You can not use this forum to say sell your car in New York, to another member in Los Angles. CHILE ITEMS PLEASE!!!!!

topic1162.html
The question is: can I post an ad (knowing that I am not in Chille) or not? :?

You do not need to be in Chile, but the product needs to be Chile related. Does that work?

So, for example tickets to Chile between members that are not in Chile are fine. Tickets from New york to Paris, between members would not be o.k.

When in doubt, there is always craigs list.
