How regrettable. I really anticipated he'd (or she'd) make a good contributor to the forum. But Charles was very clear -- repeatedly.

Ironic, too: "thechileanobserver" seemed to be a proponent of property rights (por lo poco que leí on his website) but ignored the oft-repeated rules of the owner of this website.

I honestly thought the chileanobserver was simply not understanding the rules, and thought he/she would make a good member. However, I have gotten more response from automated spam bots.

It looks like on about the 19th it really started turning north towards Pumalin. Good break for Futa and points directly west.

Is there a prevailing wind or a seasonal prevailing wind that will exerT its influence on this plume? I have heard mention recently of a "Puelche" (not referring to our erudite poster) is that an expected phenomenan ,when? Justr trying to get a handle on this thing.

Not much help, but I think that the "Puelches" are -- or were -- a tribe of Indians. Actually, I thought that they were among the natives of Argentina. Perhaps the name is applied to a wind from Argentina?

yea, it is the heavy winds / storms that hit southern chile every year. I believe what is happening now in Southern Chile would qualify. Not a good month to be working for the Chilean Emergency management. Floods, volcanoes, earthquakes, storms. Considering the breath of the situation this month they are dealing with, they are not doing too bad. Still a lot to be done however.

yea, everything seems to be settling in to a steady pattern, so there is not much to report. Other than loosing Chaiten in the floods this week, everything else looks fairly stable. The volcano is still doing its thing.

Here is link to a scierntific study of the volcanos of the area. Might be a good link in the WIKI but I'm not clever.

It's what day? Not sure, but maybe May 21st. 2:30 am. We've been without phone or internet, and periodically without electric. From 1:00 am to now, we've felt some very significant jolts, just now, a big one at 2:30 am. Aside from the foot and a half of snow, then rain, freezing rain and more snow....it's fine here! Rubber boots are in order and a good sense of humor helps too!

Hey Vicki
it is Saturday the 24th, Three earthquakes that may or may not be related to the Volcano

Seems everyone has been dormant for last day on this forum, not a single post since Thursday.
Glad you are OK

Hey Helen! Boy, I missed a few days, huh?!?!?! I woke this morning to a light, very light dusting of ash, so I wasn't sure if the jumps we felt were quakes, or the volcano blowing. It's nice to be hooked back up to the living though. Looks like we didn't miss much though!
