Futaleufu Weather Report April 8

Futaleufu Weather Report April 8

Postby Vicki and Greg Lansen on Tue Apr 08, 2008 9:55 am

You really gotta wanna be here! Here is tonights weather forecast from the Futaleufu.cl website:

32F (conversion from C)
Cold with rain, some heavy, mixing with snow, accumulating 1-3 inches. Winds from the SW at 10 mph.

I'm loosening up my "snow angel" muscles and charging the batteries for my camera! My first snow in approximately 27 years. Last year snow came in June, so this is fairly early. Already have two days dusting of snow on the surrounding mountains. I'm trying to curb my enthusiasm with the fact that winter usually does not release it's hold until late September - if I remember correctly.

I think winter in southern chile is official now. I started the fire this morning for the first time this year in Temuco today. The temp dropped yesterday, and we had our first really kind of cold rain this week. I was starting to wonder. We have had little to no rain this year so far. That was like 6 months of mostly sunny warm weather I believe this year. Now we need at least 3 months hard heavy rain to get caught up on rain fall, and some very serious snow at the higher elevations.
