Actually it is every 90 days.

You can renew once each cycle at the Extranjeria office for a maximum total of 180 days before needing to leave the country or you could forego the drab experience of government offices and procedures and leave the country every 90 days. If Argentina does not end up charging a fee at the land borders, most will find a pleasant day or overnight in Mendoza or other Argentina town much more appealing than a government office.

Hi,
I'll be moving to Chile in february, and i've already used your blog a lot to help with all sorts of questions...so thanks!

I bought a one-way ticket, and after reading these posts and doing my own research it seems clear that i'm ok with the one-way ticket as long as i can prove i'm traveling onward after 90 days. I contacted the consulate, and she was clear that I would need to show that onward ticket (e.g. bus ticket to mendoza) and that sufficient funds (credit card) would not suffice. therefore i need to purchase and have my ticket to argentina before i board the plane to chile.

does anyone know of any bus companies that run from santiago to mendoza where i can purchase a ticket on-line?? I've searched around and haven't had any luck yet. even if the information i've received is incorrect and "sufficient funds" to buy a ticket is enough to get me through to board my plane--i'd like to play it safe and have a bus ticket ready. any ideas?

the embassy's and consulates are notorious for misinformation! Print out eeuu's post and read carefully, you do not need on ongoing ticket.

Does anyone know where I can find an "official public interface of Timatic" website page which includes the statement "Exempt from holding return/onward ticket: when arriving for touristic purposes and holding credit card or sufficient funds to purchase a ticket." ? I don't want to walk up to the counter with nothing but my word versus theres and I would like to be able to pull out a printed sheet of paper to PROVE to the flight clerk that I can enter Chile without a return ticket as long as I have a credit card. Any information on where I can obtain this information (outside of a forum/message board) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much

Try this:

www {dot} timaticweb {dot} com/cgi-bin/login_website.cgi?user=IE&subuser=IEWEB&password=20jan06

Cut and paste it, and replace the {dot} with the dot.

This link always works for me. Taken from some Solomon Islands airline, if I remember it correctly.

I just typed "Timatic" in google and got the interface for Delta as my second result. Put my countries in and it gave me the information you were looking for.

Re: one-way ticket to Chile with your pet?

Postby audeo13 » Thu Jun 18, 2009 3:10 pm

I apologize for bumping this thread, but my question is a bit more detailed. I understand that under normal circumstances, flying in on a one way flight shouldn't be an issue... my problem stems from the fact that Air Canada is run by morons (undoubtedly why they're going under). My boyfriend and I are moving down there in October and we'll be flying direct from Toronto. We have two dogs however and for some reason they will not allow more than one Kennel in cargo on a flight more than 8 hours long. For myself, I am a Chilean citizen and will be getting my chilean passport before flying into Santiago and so therefore am not expecting any problems. I know what documentations the dogs need and prefer to go overboard on that end instead of being caught of gaurd. My boyfriend however, is only Canadian. And it looks like we will have to take separate flights now, to get both dogs down there. Air Canada's only other solution was to drop $3000 on shipping them as Cargo

I'm sure that if even if they did question E regarding his one-way status while bringing in a dog, he could just explain that he's bringing him to me while on vacation, etc. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone on here who moved to Chile with their dog arrived on a tourist visa with a one way ticket? I'm trying to find out what, if any problems, E might encounter. He doesn't speak spanish and we're both fairly upset we'll have to fly separately, the dogs will be separated, etc. No sense in pouring salt on the wound once we get there by being caught unprepared.

Any insight is appreciated. Now if you'll excuse me, I must go hunt down some Air Canada executives and key their cars...
Does anyone want a very sweet little puppy, she's vaccinated and fixed...

Again, there is absolutely no requirement for a round trip ticket to Chile under any law or current regulation. No one will ask in Chile, and no one will care, because it is not requirement. Only the airlines will try to rip you off with buying a ticket you do not need. He does not need to make up stories.

Anyone that ask at the airline, I would at the most tell them you are moving to Chile and will never return. Thus, the dog.

After that I would get very angry and talk to a manger if anyone at the airline pushed it beyond that point.

No official in Chile will ever ask you.

And don't quite a few people from the developed world travel as a tourist with their pets? The airline should be used to this. Know Timatic and insist on a manager if the frontline agent gives him a hard time.

I would not say anything about moving there as they will then insist on some kind of proof of a long-term visa. The counter is not the place to try to teach an agent about the details and fine points of Chile Immigration policy. STICK TO TIMATIC AND WHAT TIMATIC SAYS.

Where I left Calgary the first time I had a similar situation. I had a one-way ticket and the agent at the check in didn't want to let me check in. After the manager came over and I showed them that I had a couple visa's to buy a ticket they let me go through. Like Admin and eeuu said... you will only have troubles in Calgary, show them a visa and he will be through the gates. Once you get to Chile they won't ask any questions.

Also if someone questions the dog in Calgary just tell him to tell them that he vacations with is dog… beyond that it is none of their business.
