Anything at all (keep it clean) goes here that does not fit in to any of the other forums.

Bezaj, I'm toying with the idea of shipping with a freighter. I've long heard that prices can be little more than the reasonable value of room and board for the two weeks or so needed, and I know that the best freighters would have everything I need (well, I might want a swimming pool and a movie theater, but need? nooooo . . .). Gloria, a fellow AllChilean, intends to sail to Chile from New York, I think; if, as I hope, she recounts her experiences here, Gloria may help us both!

well i was talking of the freighter. it's from 80-100 dollars per day. it's a return ticket price and i'm not sure if one way isn't more expensive per day. i can't find anything direct from europe so should go with one ship to us and later another to chile. don't know what means later.

but, they have few really nice cabins and many have a pool too...

and the diner with the captain and the crew is gratis... basically more for their amusement than yours.

but i'm working hard on finding one ship which can bring me to chile in no more than 20 days.

This sounds very good, Bezaj, particularly when one remembers that shipment of household goods on the same freighter might be discounted -- or one's own passage might be -- and I'm looking at a very, very large amount of household goods: five or six thousand books or more, clothes, some furniture, rugs . . . well, one could go on and on.

Do let us know whom you book with, and how you found them -- please!

i tried to post some links yesterday but i guess it was against link policy. i'm sorry i believed it is not.

well there is an article in web new york times. there is a travel section and there should be article on trans atlantic ship and freighter voyages. there are three quiet useful links on the bottom of article.

and didn't book anything yet.

Thanks, Bezaj! I'll try to find the article and explore the links.

By the way, I think that AllChileans who've posted more than ten times -- and you have -- may post links. May Charles correct this if I'm mistaken!
