getting from coihaique to el calafate

Anyone have any experience with how to get from Coihaique to El Calafate? So far my research has not been good. I can fly to Punta Arenas and backtrack by bus (fairly inefficient). All other flights w/ LAN or Aerolineas Argentina seem to be routed through STGO or BA (even more ridiculous). It seems there is a bus from Perito Moreno (the town) to El Calafate along the dreaded and dismal Ruta 40. The crux is getting from Coihaique to Perito Moreno. I can't find any bus service on line, but I suspect it must exist. Any suggestions? Thx.
