In my region (southern X) I would love to grow hops and grains, and have Hobby Beer. Vicki's Hobby Beer. Unfortunately, if I was really enjoying my hobby, there'd be little left to sell, share, or export.
Seriously though (not that I wasn't dead serious about beer) a small farm with a bottling system could produce some really fine salsas and sauces, jams and fruit compotes. A small farmer could grow aji peppers, all kinds of exotic and varied colored peppers, garlic, herbs, use apples to make vinegars, hook up with an olive farmer in the north, and make chimi-churi sauces, hot pepper sauces of red, green or yellow peppers, hot pepper jellies.
My last trip to the US I took back the traditional red aji sauces, chimichuri, garlic and other traditional sauces in bottles for family and they were crazy about it. My son uses the red aji stuff now when he makes buffalo wings. Everyone wanted more for Christmas time this year.
