Chile Customer Service Wiki Bits Nominations

Discuss the best and worst companies and customer services in Chile including tips, tricks, rants, endorsements, and which businesses to avoid at all cost. If we talk about them frequently enough, we might just get the attention of the company. Help other Expats and Gringos find the good companies in Chile, and avoid the bad ones.

Chile Customer Service Wiki Bits Nominations

Postby admin on Sat Dec 08, 2007 6:52 pm

I would like to invite all to nominate or collect the best pieces of advise or information about how to fix things, get things done, deal with sales reps, and so on from our customer service forum in this thread.

We will then see, if we can boil them down in to Chile customer service bible of sorts filled with fast tips, consumer rights, and so on to be posted to the Chile Wiki for posterity in a special customer service wiki for Chile.

Little by little we should be able to collectively sort through perhaps THE most annoying thing in Chile: Poor Customer Service.

Any other ideas?

I have opened a customer service page on the Chile WIki, under shopping and retail as I thought it would be of most use there.

movistar

Movistar is number one complained about company on their site.

We have to use them because they have the widest rural coverage, but I have not been very happy with their customer service either.

There network for buying mins went down for a whole week, and we needed to buy more mins in the middle of a crisis. Luckily we had backup cell phones on other networks. Not even their offices could use the network for a week. Seems they were upgrading equipment. You do not upgrade computer networks that large like that. A couple min outage in the middle of the night is o.k., a week is a loss of millions of dollars.

I finally bought a black berry from them . It was not what I wanted, but I did not want to risk hardware that no one knew anything about at the company.

Works great on their BAND WORD-phone edge network, but it took me a total of about a dozen trips to their office and easily 24 hours of trying to get simple information about it.
I wanted a BAND WORD-phone competitor to the black berry, but they told me that BAND WORD-phone phones did not work on their BAND WORD-phone built network. Hummmmmmm?

Even when they finally called me to tell me it was ready I picked up the equipment and paid, they told me I needed to come back again the next day to configure it.

I ignored that, downloaded the tech Manuel online in English, and configured it myself.
