Hello!

It's freezing cold here in China today, so I hope you're all having a warm, sunny day. I heard about this site through Vicki on Chile Gringos (hi vicki! you're a star on here!!!) and am excited to get in touch with some other people already in Chile.

Our basic story: my husband and I both have undergrad degrees, I'm a certified art teacher, but we've been here teaching ESL in a university here in China the last 3 terms. We are highly interested in going to Chile - in a perfect world I could get a job teaching art at an international school, or in the real world we could both continue teaching ESL (preferably at another uni). Basically, anyone who knows about the ESL world in Chile would be a huge source of help to us (anyone with any information, really :-D).

Otherwise, I'm just here to learn from all the good info I've already seen. Again, have a great day!

I completely know where you are coming from. My wife and I taught at a Chinese University in Nanjing for a year. If you did not have 100+ students in a room, you would freeze to death.

There is heat in Chile however. The market for most good ESL jobs will be in the Central region. You might find some lesser paying jobs in the south, but it is also much cheaper to live in the south.
