This leaves 600 people without work and is big news for the town. Considering what a bad summer does to Pucon families it could be really bad for the locals.
Apparently it was an electrical wiring fault - we get about one house a week burning down in the area for the same reason.
It also seems to be bringing up the lack of disaster response planning in the town - er, volcano, anyone?

Last I seen on the news the cause was still under consideration, and the real problem was that the city mandated that 80% of all tourism buildings be made out of Native wood. Thus, a lot of fuel for the fire.
I also see that hotel only cost 20 million US to build. That is a lot of corners to cut in construction for a hotel of that size.
Electrical systems though are a problem in Chile.
